Cooltec, the fat-freezing phenomenon

 
 

 
 
We spoke to Gemma Garrett, former Miss Belfast and Miss Great Britain. Gemma tried the new Cooltec fat-freezing treatment and told us about her experience.
 
WHEN it comes to weight loss, fat-reducing pills or potions, I’m the biggest skeptic. I have tried all the diets and creams in the book but when I heard that the new COOLTEC Sculpture treatment at the Thérapie Clinic was FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved, I felt confident enough to give it a try.
 
Cooltec or Sculpture is a non-invasive fat reducing treatment that exposes fat cells to controlled cooling in order to break down the fat and destroy it so that it can be naturally flushed away from the body. It’s been so effective that people who were considering liposuction have opted for the treatment.
 
Thérapie Clinic, which has clinics nationwide, is the only clinic to have the COOLTEC machine and the treatment is becoming more and more popular after reports that TV star Kim Kardashian and her mum Kris Jenner are big fans of it. The treatment is best for the areas where fat is stubborn — all the usual problem areas which just won’t budge even though you work out and eat healthily. Stomach, love handles, arms and inner thighs are all popular areas with the treatment. I have a fairly flat stomach but there is a little problem area that just won’t move and I was happy to get the treatment to see if it would do the trick.
 
The treatment itself was completely pain free. It is not a super-relaxing treatment but definitely not uncomfortable. My therapist Alison put me at ease and explained everything before the treatment began. She put a suction-like device on to the skin on the problem area and cooled the fat cells. It took about five minutes to cool the fat to the correct temperature, which is around -15c.
 
The device was left on for an hour until the area was completely frozen which helps break down the fat cells, which are then flushed away by the body’s natural metabolic process. My skin was protected using a gel-infused pad so I didn’t get a freeze burn. I was told that I could bruise a little but I didn’t.
 
After the treatment I felt numb with pins and needles in the treated area. My stomach was swollen and the numb feeling stayed for about two weeks. It has been a month from the treatment and I have seen great results. I have lost an inch off my stomach and it is completely flat now. Others have noticed also and commented on my flat stomach on a recent holiday.
 
This treatment is not a quick fix for someone overweight, the ideal client is someone who is relatively slim but has a stubborn roll of belly fat, love handles, flabby underarms, hips, back and/or abdominal fat or man boobs; stubborn hard-to-reach fat that does not respond to diet and exercise.
