Been a while since you’ve felt your skin looked its best and you felt youthful and glowing?

Wrinkles and fine lines, they seem to arrive overnight, leaving us wondering how they arrived so quickly, and thinking how we might get rid of them just as fast! Chances are you’ve already tried making some changes to your skin routine – but maybe you need a little extra help.

The inclusion of Hyaluronic acid and a good anti aging serum can certainly help, but there’s no time like the present to learn a little bit more about the other options available to you.

A popular way to bring your glow back, or a good way to revive your skin is to learn a little bit more about what Botox or Dermal Fillers can add to your routine. As the number 1 way to rejuvenate ageing skin, the treatments are tried and tested and can really give some great results. But often, like with many treatments it’s hard to know where to begin and what’s the right course of action to take. And that’s where the advice of medical professionals, like the team at Thérapie Clinic, comes in.

Thérapie Clinic is Europe’s No. 1 provider of Botox and Dermal Fillers, and needless to say they are big fans of the famed anti-wrinkle treatment, and the plumping youthful effects of Dermal Fillers.

They tell us just what you can expect when you undergo the treatment, and bring us through the do’s and don’ts of the popular treatments, enabling you to make informed decisions that bring out the best in your skin.

Thinking it might be time to explore anti-aging treatments

Do’s – Pick a medically run Clinic with plenty of experience
The biggest decision you’ll have to make once you decide to have Botox or Dermal Fillers is to choose the best professionals to give you your treatment. Always go to a team who are medical professionals, and who are well established and have a strong reputation.
Talk to your family and friends and ask for recommendations, have they had a great experience with an aesthetics clinic? Getting the best results starts with getting the best team to guide you individually on what your skin needs.

Look for reviews and recommendations online – check out Thérapie Clinic’s website and YouTube channel to find out more about the medical professionals who have more than twenty years experience delivering these treatments across Ireland.

Do – Ask plenty of questions before having your treatment

Got any questions about your treatment? We thought so! If you’ve decided to go with Thérapie Clinic, you may have had your free one to one consultation with their Doctor led team. As part of your overall treatment, every Thérapie customer will receive this in the run up to their first Botox or Dermal filler session, giving you a chance to run through any questions you may have as well as have a chat about your own skin and ageing concerns.

So some simple, but important things to note – firstly how the injections work. Anti-wrinkle injections( Botox) are on the frontline of anti-ageing treatments. When injected in small doses into targeted areas, anti-wrinkle injections block the signals between the nerves and the muscles, causing the muscles to relax. They reduce the appearance of lines to produce a look that is fresh, more youthful and, most importantly, natural.

One question that the team in Thérapie get asked time and time again is how long will the Botox last – Botox is a non permanent, non surgical way to treat fine lines under the eyes, Crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, all the dreaded tell-tale signs of aging. The results will be obvious to you 2-5 days after your treatment and will last for up to four months.

Dermal Fillers on the other hand are used to plump up or volumize ageing skin, because as we get older skin loses its volume and sagging skin is a result of this. They fill other areas in the face with hyaluronic acid, plumping the skin to replace collagen loss. This helps your skin achieve as youthful of a look as possible, as well as eliminating signs of ageing that occur as a result of collagen depletion.

Nervous about your treatment? Don’t be, it will be short – maybe lasting ten or fifteen minutes. The injections are quick and what you’ll feel is a small pinch or prod, which will last only a few seconds per injection. It will all be over before you know it, and remember you will have some exciting results to look forward to!

Do – Take on board some simple pre-treatment tips
Is there anything you need to know before you turn up for your treatment? Yes, the best way to prepare is to find out a few tips that will help you to ensure that you get the most from your session.

First of all the timing of your treatment is key – some patients might experience a little redness, bruising or swelling directly after treatment, so it’s always good to plan your treatment at a time when you’re not rushing off to do something exciting afterwards!

As with any procedure it’s important to ensure you have something to eat an hour or two before your treatment to help you keep your blood sugar levels up, as occasionally patients may feel a little lightheaded afterwards. The team at Thérapie advise that it’s best to avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your treatment too to lessen the chance of bruising. Makeup too is a no no, so don’t forget to arrive at your appointment without it and prepare yourself to not wear it for 24 hours after your treatment to lessen any chance of infections.

A lot to remember? Don’t worry, the team in Thérapie will talk you through all their pretreatment tips when you meet them for your one to one consultation in advance of your treatment.

Don’t be afraid to keep asking questions!

Do – Ensure you take aftercare tips seriously!
You’ve had your treatment, and you’re wondering if there’s anything off limits for the next day or so? Aftercare is pretty straightforward after Botox and Dermal Fillers. Essentially you just need to take extra care of the area that has been treated. That means resting as much as you can afford after your treatment, and avoid touching or putting physical weight on the area. And it’s time to give the gym a miss for a day or so too, you will need to avoid physical exercise if you can the day of and after your treatment.

Although it might not be something that you want to consider, some people will get a small amount of bruising after their treatment. This is not something to worry about, but it is something to be aware of before your treatment. If a bruise does occur it may take a few days to appear, team Thérapie recommend using Arnica (available from Health shops or pharmacies) to help clear the bruising. The good news is that there are a number of things you can do to give you the best chance of not getting any bruising – avoiding alcohol and ibuprofen 24-48 hours after your treatment will certainly help.

Love makeup? What’s not to love, although It’s a good idea to not wear it for 24 hours after your treatment, if at all possible too, as this will help you to prevent infection. The team in Thérapie will run through a comprehensive list of aftercare do’s and don’ts in your consultation, so don’t worry you’ll be well prepped to get the most from your treatment.
In the case of Dermal Fillers it’s important to not have dental work for 4 weeks after your Dermal Filler treatment, and also to not have invasive laser or skin treatments in the same area as your Dermal Filler treatment for 4 weeks post treatment.

Anything you need to look out for? After your Dermal Filler treatment it is very important that you contact the Clinic immediately if you experience intense pain, mottling (fishnet stocking pattern) or discoloration of the skin in the area or surrounding area that has been treated immediately afterwards or in the days after your treatment.

In this case don’t worry – the team at Thérapie Clinic will inform your treating Medical Professional so that they can contact you, advise you and if necessary, arrange to see you again to address and resolve the issue.
