What is Micro-Needling?

Micro-needling has been heralded as the natural alternative to anti wrinkle injectables as it has the capacity to enhance skin tone, texture and firmness without using any chemicals.

Available at Thérapie clinics across Ireland, Micro-Needling is used to stimulate collagen and elastin production in the body in a bid to reduce a variety of skin complaints, including:

  • Acne Scarring
  • Cellulite
  • Deep Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Pigmentation
  • Sagging Skin
  • Stretch Marks
  • Thread Veins
  • Uneven Skin Tone

How Micro-Needling works

Micro-needling involves puncturing the skin multiple times with tiny needles which create microscopic channels in the dermis layer (where collagen is produced).

The outside layer of skin is unaffected by the micro-needling procedure, but the body perceives the treatment as fresh trauma to the area which causes it to start producing large amounts of collagen.

A specific variety of collagen is produced after micro-needling, known as Type III Collagen, which is the body’s natural healing agent.

This Type III Collagen replenishes collagen stores in the skin so it appears firmer, tighter and incredibly smooth.

How many treatments will I need?

At Therapie, we recommend between 4-6 treatments in order to maximize collagen production and achieve the best possible results.

Skin will appear red after micro-needling, looking and feeling like mild sunburn for the first 24 hours or so after treatment.
