When lip fillers are administered correctly, they can offer a more contoured, more enhanced appearance. It’s a treatment that’s proving to be as appealing to millennial’s as well as to more mature audience, catering to both women and men.

It’s understandable that you might have some questions and reservations about the treatment – it does involve facial injections after all! To put your mind at ease, Thérapie Clinic has outlined what you can expect before, during and after the treatment:

Pre-treatment
All our treatments begin with a private consultation that includes a full facial assessment by our professional team. If treatment is deemed suitable, your areas of concern are discussed, options explored, and a personal treatment plan decided. Now’s the time to ask any questions you have, to ensure you have a full understanding of the treatment.

At your lip fillers appointment
At your first lip filler appointment, you’ll complete a medical consent form and pre-treatment photos are taken to track your results. Immediately after the consultation, the treatment can commence. The procedure itself is quite straightforward and takes only minutes. A fine needle is used to inject your lips with the filler.

Your doctor will then talk you through the procedure before starting. It’s normal to feel a little nervous – eat and hydrate before arriving to help reduce any butterflies you might have. At Thérapie Clinic patient care is always to the forefront of all our procedures and we will ensure that your treatment is as comfortable as possible. All our lip fillers contain a local anesthetic; however, during the procedure itself clients may experience some mild discomfort. This is only temporary, and your doctor will advise you on how to minimise this discomfort.

Immediately after the treatment
Your doctor will advise you fully of post-treatment advice at your consultation. After the treatment some common injection-related reactions might occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve spontaneously within 2 to 10 days.

Other guidelines to follow:

• Make-up must not be worn for 24 hours post treatment.
• Avoid alcohol and vigorous exercise for 24 hours post treatment.
• Refrain from placing any pressure on the treatment area for the first week post treatment.
• Avoid sunbathing, sunbeds or extremes of heat or cold for 2 weeks post treatment. These activities have been found to increase and prolong bruising and swelling.
• Swelling may worsen in the first 24 hours. Visible swelling should settle within the first week post treatment. Cold packs can be helpful in reducing swelling. As a consequence of swelling and internal healing the product may feel harder or lumpy and you may notice some asymmetry. The final result may be assessed 4 weeks post treatment.
• Arnica can be helpful in clearing bruising.
• Avoid Ibuprofen and alcohol for 24-48 hours post treatment to reduce bruising and swelling.
• Tenderness should settle as swelling goes down and bruising heals over the course of 4 weeks post treatment.
• Do not have dental work for 4 weeks post Dermal Filler treatment.
• Do not have invasive laser or skin treatments in the same area as your Dermal Filler treatment for 4 weeks post treatment.

It is very important that you contact Thérapie Clinic immediately if you experience intense pain, mottling (fishnet stocking pattern) or discoloration of the skin in the area or surrounding area of your dermal filler treatment immediately post or in the days post treatment. Thérapie Clinic will inform your treating Medical Professional so that they can contact you, advise you and if necessary, arrange to see you again to address and resolve the issue.

From then on …
A huge advantage of lip fillers is that the results are long lasting but not permanent. Your lips can be altered over time in order to maintain the desired appearance. On average each treatment lasts 6 months.

After the initial treatment, follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every 6 to 12 months depending on the individual and the treatment. Your doctor will give you more information during your consultation.

Fancy looking instantly younger? Loss of volume in the face is one of the key signs of ageing. Reduce fine lines, wrinkles and add volume to enhance your natural beauty with Europe’s leading dermal filler and aesthetic treatment provider, Thérapie Clinic.

If you’re a first-time dermal filler patient, here’s what you need to know …

How do I prepare for my dermal filler appointment at Thérapie Clinic?

• Clear your schedule of any major events for at least three days or so after your injections. You may still have some swelling and bruising, especially if treated around the eyes or lips.

• Stop taking any blood thinning medications/supplements three days prior to treatment. These include: Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, fish oils and multivitamins.

• Don’t drink alcohol for at least two days before your treatment. The blood-thinning effects of alcohol may cause you to bruise. Red wine is usually the culprit!

• Avoid exercise the day of your appointment. This could cause more swelling and potentially affect the outcome of your treatment.

What happens during the treatment?
At Thérapie Clinic, we always conduct a thorough consultation with you prior to any procedure to make treatment recommendations to meet your cosmetic needs, review your medical and past cosmetic history, discuss treatment options, expected recovery, longevity of results, and go over any risks involved with the procedure.

If we have decided that dermal fillers are the best option for you, we will prepare your skin for the treatment. The injections themselves are quick, taking anywhere from 10-25 minutes to complete.

Once the treatment is completed, we will pass you a mirror to admire your results! Results from dermal fillers are instant, however results will continue to improve weeks after the treatment once the filler has had time to settle. We will then go over expectations for healing (if any), post-care instructions, and make recommendations for any addition appointments or follow ups.

What should I do after getting dermal fillers?
For the most part, recovery after the dermal fillers is simple. Many people resume their usual activities within 24 hours. You might notice that there is some bruising or swelling in the injected area, which is expected after an injectable treatment. However, typically the bruising is minimal and can be covered up with makeup within 24-48 hours.

Thérapie Clinic recommends that you have dermal fillers two weeks before any big events (weddings, presentations, photo shoots, etc,) so that all healing is complete and results have enough time to settle to ensure you look and feel your best for your big day!

How long will the results last?
One of the great advantages of Dermal Fillers is that the effects are long lasting but not permanent. Duration depends on many factors, such as the individual’s skin type, lifestyle and age. After the initial treatment, follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every 6 to 12 months depending on the individual and the treatment. A treatment of the lips lasts from 3 to 6 months. Your doctor will give you more information during your consultation.

It’s 2020, and getting your lips injected is about as common as getting your hair highlighted. But, it’s important to remember getting lip fillers is a real procedure that should be administered by a fully qualified expert, like those at Thérapie Clinic. Get those plump lips you’ve always wanted!

1. What type of lip filler can I get?
You’ve got temporary and permanent fillers – at Thérapie Clinic, we only administer temporary fillers to ensure all our clients get the desired result from their treatment.

We use temporary hyaluronic acid (HA) filler – sugar derivative naturally found in your body that can hold up to 1,000 times its own weight in water. For that reason, it’s a great hydrating ingredient for skincare as well as a great substance for injectables. It’s also preferred for its more natural look and ability to dissolve over time.

2. Can I remove my fillers once I get them?
The beauty of a temporary filler is that if you don’t like how your lips turn out for whatever reason, your doctor can inject an eraser enzyme called hyaluronidase to break up the particles and accelerate the rate at which the fillers break down.

3. What will fillers look like on me?
At Thérapie Clinic we understand our clients’ need to trust in the safe hands of the professionals. That is why our highly-trained and skilled team is led by surgeon Paul Reddy. He ensures that all our procedures are carried out in an environment that are as exacting as a surgical theatre.

At Thérapie Clinic we use the worlds most tried and tested dermal filler, Juvederm. This product has been rigorously tested through clinical trials over the past 15 years and its records for safety and efficiency are outstanding. Juvederm has been used in 15 million treatments worldwide. The medical professionals at Thérapie Clinic will be able to advise you on the treatment needed to cater to your specific concerns, helping to achieve natural, beautiful results.

4. Are there any side effects associated with getting filler?
After the treatment some common injection-related reactions might occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. The use of anti-inflammatory drugs or aspirin will almost always cause bleeding or increased bruising at the injection site. No exercise except for walking for 24 hours after the procedure.

5. How much do lip fillers at Thérapie Clinic cost?
Lip enhancement treatments start at €195 per 0.5ml.

6. How big will my lips get?
You won’t leave Thérapie Clinic with immediately enormous lips. Expect to increase the size gradually over time for the most natural results. Since there’s a lot of swelling at first that can distort the shape, you need to give your lips time to adapt to the newly placed volume and settle into their natural state before assessing.

7. How long do lip fillers last?
About six months. However, this varies person-to-person. How long your lips stay plump and how quickly the filler breaks down really depend on your body’s metabolism.

What’s the first you notice about someone when you meet them? More often than not, a person’s smile is the first thing that catches people attention upon meeting.

Did you know that lip fillers can help bring out the best in your smile?

What are lip fillers?
The lip filler procedure involves the injection of hyaluronic acid or collagen into a patient’s lips, with the goal of increasing the volume of the lips. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that is normally found in the body, creating a a natural fullness by filling the lips with water.

Almost anyone who wants fuller lips is a good candidate for lip fillers. As the procedure is safe, quick, and all-natural, there are very few to no reasons that would prohibit a person from getting it.

How lip fillers can change your smile – for the better
If you’re self-conscious that your smile is visibly thinner than your peers, ask your therapist at Thérapie Clinic to inject the lip filler into the parentheses lines that can be found on either side of the mouth. This can help to fill in thinner smiles and reduce the lines around the mouth.

Some patients ask if lip injections can help with gummy smiles or smiles in which a notable part of the gum in the upper jaw is revealed. Thankfully, lip fillers can help with gummy smile correction. This is done by increasing volume in the upper lip, to help block the sight of the gummy smile.

Want to experiment about size? One of the many benefits of lip fillers is that the results of the treatment are long-lasting, but not permanent, meaning you can adjust your treatment to achieve your desired result.

With that said, it can be tempting to try to get as much out of a single appointment as possible, but lip fillers should never be treated as a one-off case. We all react differently to lip fillers, and you would be better off starting with a smaller dose and topping it off later if you think you want more. While you do have to get touched up if you plan on maintaining your look, but not as often as you’d think. After the initial treatment, follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every 6 to 12 months depending on the individual and the treatment. A treatment of the lips lasts about 6 months. Your doctor will give you more information during your consultation.

So you’ve gotten fillers – what now?
Your doctor will advise you fully of post-treatment advice at your consultation. After the treatment some common injection-related reactions might occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve spontaneously within 2 to 10 days. The use of anti-inflammatory drugs or aspirin will almost always cause bleeding or increased bruising at the injection site. No exercise except for walking for 24 hours after the procedure.

Longing for a perkier pout and giving lip enhancement serious consideration? Firstly, any aesthetic procedure is a big decision, so you’re right to give it a lot of thought. The good news is that as a non-permanent, non-invasive option for a perkier pout, lip filler is safe, non-invasive and very affordable. And, if you do decide to go ahead with the procedure, here’s three things you’ll walk out of the Aesthetic Clinic with after your procedure.

Volume
Essentially lip fillers are a non-surgical and non-invasive way to add volume to your lips as well also helping you achieve a naturally plump look. The way they work is simple, during the procedure a naturally occurring sugar found within the skin called hyaluronic acid is injected with a very fine needle into the lips. The results are lips that are more contoured and more enhanced as hyaluronic acid stimulates the growth of collagen giving your lips a more youthful appearance.

A bigger smile
Lip enhancement will undoubtedly give you a perkier smile. The first step to getting a bigger smile is to know exactly what you want to achieve from your lip filler procedure. Taking the time out to find some images online of lips that you love will pay off as it will help your Therapist to understand just what you’re looking for.

A pep in your step
Finally, maybe the best pay off that lip enhancement can bring back isn’t just volume, but your confidence! If you think that having this non-surgical procedure will help with your confidence then it might be time to speak with the experts in Ireland’s No.1 Aesthetic Clinic, Thérapie Clinic today.

How do I find out more information?
Thérapie Clinic are Europe’s largest and most experienced lip filler providers. With eighteen years of experience, and having conducted over 1 million treatments, they are the first choice of many celebrities and well known faces across the UK and Ireland.

With a large number of clinics dotted across Ireland and the UK the company carries out lip filler procedures by a Doctor led team of professionals with years of experience.

At Thérapie Clinic, we believe that true beauty comes from within; a result of being healthy and confident; taking the time to nurture your body, your skin, yourself. We take an integrated approach to beauty, helping our clients discover the best version of themselves.

Our highly trained therapists apply this ethos when carrying out all treatments at Thérapie Clinic, like our signature lip fillers. As the appeal of lip enhancement showing no sign of waning, here’s everything you should know before booking in for your consultation …

Lip fillers are long-lasting, but not permanent.
Lip enhancement – also know as lip augmentation – is an aesthetic procedure designed to give you fuller, plumper lips. A dermal filler, a naturally occurring sugar found within the skin called hyaluronic acid, is injected with a very fine needle into the lips. The results are lips that are more contoured, more enhanced. Dermal fillers can both enhance a younger lip and volumise the ageing lip.

One of the huge benefits of this treatment is that the results are long lasting but not permanent. Your lips can be altered over time in order to maintain the desired appearance. On average each treatment lasts 6 months. Duration depends on many factors, such as the individual’s skin type, lifestyle and age. After the initial treatment, follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every 6 to 12 months depending on the individual and the treatment. Your doctor will give you more information during your consultation.

How it will feel
At Thérapie Clinic patient care is always to the forefront of all of our procedures and we will ensure that your treatment is as comfortable as possible. Our lip fillers contain a local anaesthetic however; during the procedure itself clients may experience some mild discomfort. This is only temporary, and your doctor will advise you on how to minimalize this discomfort.

You’ll be in and out in a flash
The whole thing was done and dusted in around ten minutes or so. Your doctor will advise you fully of post-treatment advice at your consultation.

What will they look like after?
This is obviously going to depend person-to-person, but you can expect to see an immediate difference in volume and shape. As the swelling goes down – and provided you follow your doctor’s post-treatment instructions – you’ll be left with natural-looking lips to complement your smile.

Thérapie Clinic’s prices are seriously competitive
Half a ml starts at €195, while 1ml will set you back €295.

Why Thérapie Clinic is the place for you
At Thérapie Clinic we understand our clients’ need to trust in the safe hands of the professionals. That is why our highly trained and skilled team is led by surgeon Paul Reddy. He ensures that all our procedures are carried out in an environment that are as exacting as a surgical theatre.

Looking for plumper more youthful lips? If lip liners and other celebrity endorsed lip products haven’t delivered on their promises, then researching the results that you can get from lip enhancement or lip fillers might be something that you’re interested in learning more about.
Our ultimate lip filler guide will help you understand what you need to know to ensure you get a professional procedure that can help you achieve the results you’re looking for.
What are lip fillers and how do they work?
Lip fillers are a non permanent procedure that can help you achieve a naturally plump look.
During the procedure, a naturally occurring sugar found within the skin called hyaluronic acid is injected with a very fine needle into the lips. The results are lips that are more contoured and more enhanced as hyaluronic acid stimulates the growth of collagen giving your lips a more youthful appearance.
Essentially lip fillers are a non surgical and non invasive way to replenish lost lip volume, or to add volume to your lips.
Will it hurt?
You’ll feel a little discomfort, yes. As the UK and Ireland’s no.1 aesthetic clinic, patient care is always to the forefront of every procedure carried out in Thérapie Clinic.
All of our lip fillers contain a local anaesthetic however; during the procedure itself you might still experience some mild discomfort but rest assured Thérapie will make the treatment as comfortable as possible for you.
How long will the treatment last?

Lip fillers are fast becoming one of the most popular and sought after non-surgical treatment in the aesthetic market today. If you search the hastag “Lips” on Instagram, you’ll be faced with just under 4 million results. The demand for lip fillers at Thérapie Clinic has tripled, with clients looking to enhance their smile and replenish lost volume, while still maintaining a natural look.
The days of an over pronounced Hollywood lip job are gone, with most people favouring a natural look over the infamous Kylie Jenner trout pout. At Thérapie Clinic, we favour a less is more approach, ensuring the results are natural, while still enhancing your smile and helping to create the best version of you!
How do lip fillers work?
Lip fillers, are a non-surgical treatment, where the lips are injected with a very fine needle with a naturally occurring substance found within the skin called Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid, often referred to as a miracle ingredient for the skin, is a naturally occurring molecule that attracts and binds water. It is capable of holding up to 1,000 times its own weight in water. By capturing water, it plays a very important role in keeping skin smooth, plump and hydrated. Our skin is rich with Hyaluronic Acid, and our body readily produces it, but with age and sun exposure, our skin cells produce less Hyaluronic Acid. The result is drier, less elastic skin and this goes for our lips too, which can become thinner as we age. Because Hyaluronic Acid has plumping effects, it works extremely well as a lip filler, giving lips a more contoured and volumised look.
At Thérapie Clinic we use the worlds most tried and tested dermal filler, Juvederm. This FDA approved product has been rigorously tested through clinical trials over the past 15 years and its records for safety and efficiency are outstanding. Juvederm has been used in 15 million treatments worldwide!

Is the treatment painful?

At Thérapie Clinic patient care is always to the forefront of all of our procedures and we will ensure that your treatment is as comfortable as possible. All treatments are carried out by experienced doctors, who have a deep understanding of facial aesthetics and symmetry, ensuring you are in safe hands. All of our lip filler treatments are carried out using a numbing cream. Once the lips are numbed, you’ll feel a little prick and slight pressure and you may experience some mild discomfort. This is only temporary, and your doctor will advise you on how to minimalize this discomfort. Once the injections have been administered your doctor will then massage your lips to ensure the filler is distributed evenly, this is to prevent any lumps and bumps. The treatment will take less than 10 minutes and you can then go about your day!

What should I do before and after the treatment?

Before your treatment you should avoid any medication that thins the blood (e.g. aspirin or ibuprofen). Thinner blood will make the area more prone to bruising and bleeding, so 10 days prior, stop taking painkillers fish oil, and vitamin E—and, yes, even alcohol. If you have a history of cold sores, you should take prevention medication two days before the procedure, because unfortunately it could trigger a flare-up. You can take Arnica tablets a couple of days before your treatment to reduce post-filler bruising and inflammation.
After your treatment you will probably experience some swelling, which is completely normal, but you’ll see the effects of the fillers pretty quickly. It is advisable not to have the treatment right before an event or occasion as the lips may still be swollen. You may also experience some common injection-related reactions such as redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site, but these will subside after a couple of days. You can take an antihistamine, to help with the swelling for the first 24 hours. Most of the swelling will subside in a day, but it will generally take about 3-5 days for your lips to fully settle. If needed, you can apply Arnica cream to help with any bruising. You should also avoid any exercise, apart from walking for 24 hours after treatment.
Fuller looking lips straight after lip filler treatment. The swelling will go down in few days and results will be very close to natural looking lips
How long do lip fillers last?
Lip Fillers are not permanent, and any injected Hyaluronic Acid will be naturally absorbed into the body after a few months. How long your lips stay plump and how quickly the filler breaks down really depend on your body’s metabolism. Duration also depends on factors, such as the individual’s skin type, lifestyle and age. After the initial treatment, follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every 6 to 12 months depending on the individual and the treatment. A treatment of the lips lasts about 6 months. Your doctor will give you more information during your consultation.

Aesthetic surgery and other cosmetic procedures are not everyone’s cup of tea. There are those who are in favour of it and are not averse to finding ways to enhance their features, while others tend to give it a wide berth. Last year, however, saw lip fillers claim the title of one of the most searched beauty terms on Google – so regardless of whether you’re in the ‘for’ or ‘against’ camp, curiosity about the topic is undeniably on the rise.

This may be due to the fact that no surgery is required with dermal fillers, or perhaps the fact that they give positive results for those who want them, and have improved in terms of safety and effectiveness (the exaggerated pillow lips we used to see on celebrities are a rarity these days). So if your liner just isn’t cutting it anymore, and you’ve got a few questions on lip fillers that need to be answered, read our 15 fact cheat-sheet below… I mean, curiosity never killed anyone, right?

1. Lip fillers, in medical terms, are considered a ‘non-surgical’ procedure – so you can get the lips you’ve always wanted without technically ever going under the knife.

2. Just as every artist has a favourite medium, each aesthetic surgery practitioner will have his/her preferred filler. Typically, for lips though, hyaluronic acid filler will have the most credible effect.

3. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally-produced in our bodies – albeit in lesser quantities as we age – and is injected to improve the appearance of the lips by adding volume beneath the surface and to the lip-line to enhance shape and structure.

4. Hyaluronic acid (HA) can also be found as a listed ingredient in the majority of plumping skincare products – It can hold up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, hence its popularity in the beauty-realm.

5. You don’t have to go OTT! – With HA fillers, it’s super-easy to control the resulting outcome of the procedure. Needs/wants vary from patient to patient, but generally speaking, one syringe of filler is adequate to keep things looking natural, but still noticeably fuller.

6. HA lip fillers are entirely reversible – if you don’t like what you see post-treatment, don’t panic. Your practitioner can just inject an antidotal enzyme, called hyaluronidase, to dissolve the filler.

7. How long the fillers last depends on the metabolism of each patient and the speed at which your own body breaks down the HA – Thinner patients are said to have faster metabolisms and so, should expect to see the results waning after 3-4 months.

8. Set realistic goals – If your lips are on the smaller side pre-treatment, don’t expect to get lips to rival Angelina in one visit. As part of your pre-filler preparation, discuss what is achievable and ultimately, what will look best for your face with your practitioner. Remember, slow and steady always wins the race.

9. If administered correctly, injected lips shouldn’t feel much different to your natural lips – Even when kissing… phew!

10. You will see results pretty much instantly! – There will be some initial swelling, but by the next day, any negative side effects should fade to reveal fuller, plumper lips.

11. Prep is key! – In the lead up to your procedure, avoid alcohol, painkillers, Vitamin E and Omega Fish Oils as they are known to thin the blood and increase the risk of bleeding.

12. On the scale of pain we ladies inflict on ourselves in the constant quest for beauty, getting lip fillers shouldn’t be any less bearable than pinching your eyelid with a lash curler or getting your eyebrows threaded – A numbing cream can be applied topically too, to minimise any potential discomfort.

13. Minor swelling and redness is to be expected for most, after receiving the injections – But some patients will be more prone to bleeding and bruising than others.

14. Avoid any high-intensity workouts or yoga inversions in the 24 hours after your treatment – just to allow gravity work its full magic and your fillers to settle.

15. Contrary to what the horror stories might lead you to believe, should you elect to stop getting fillers, your lips will not turn into saggy skin bags. Instead, in some case, fillers have been proven to increase bodily HA production at the site of injection, so your lips could naturally remain a little larger than they were pre-fillers.

If you’re still curious about lip fillers, or other non-surgical options available to you, contact Thérapie Clinic by calling 1890 650 750 or book your free consultation by clicking below.
