Laser Hair removal for legs

First things first, what is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a progressive process achieving cumulative results over several sessions. It is a process of hair removal by exposing the hair follicle in its growth phase to pulses of light from a laser, the exposure to the laser destroys the hair follicle and over a number of sessions (usually 6-10 sessions) the hair will be permanently removed.

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

1. There are so many treatable areas

At Thérapie Clinic we offer laser hair removal for the whole body. Laser hair removal doesn’t have to be limited to only the legs or underarms. We can treat most areas of the body such as bikini (we’re talking whatever you want, normal, Brazilian or Hollywood style) – as well as the face (including the sides, brow, jawline and neck), forearms, back, stomach, nipples, hands and feet. In other words, there are very few areas on your body that can’t have laser hair removal. Talk about being spoilt for choice!

2. The process is super time efficient and easy

While the time taken to treat each area varies the lasers work very quickly. This is especially the case when compared to the traditional means of hair removal such as shaving or waxing. Small areas such as the lip can take a couple of minutes, which is perfect if you fancy popping in on your lunch break, while larger areas including the back can take up to an hour. An hour may sound like a long time but when you compare it to the time you would spend removing the hair yourself, it’s nothing (and it’s considerably less painful than waxing).

3. Freedom of never having to wax or shave again!

The freedom that comes with laser hair removal is next to none. You won’t have to stress about shaving or planning your wax appointment for every little occasion. With laser hair removal you never have to worry about performing a hair removal routine every time you want to show off your skin.

When should you get Laser Hair Removal?

You can start your laser hair removal journey at any time of the year. However, if you are looking to be hair free for 2023, the best time to get laser to ensure you are hair free for summer is right now. Not to mention we are currently running our up to 75% off Black Friday Sale – Laser Hair Removal prices have never been so low! Had enough of costly trips to the salon and never ending nicks and cuts from razors? It may be time to finally hang up your short term hair removal boots and join thousands of Irish men and women opting for a quick and reliable way to rid themselves of unwanted hair permanently – yes, it may be time to learn more about Laser Hair Removal.

If you’re truly ready to leave your nicks and cuts in the past, you’ll never look back as not only is Laser Hair Removal now Ireland’s most popular permanent hair removal treatment it’s now also pain free with no nasty side effects.

Providing the treatment for almost twenty years, Thérapie Clinic are Ireland’s No.1 experts in Laser Hair Removal, and they say that getting the revolutionary beauty treatment is a lot easier than you may think.

Phillip McGlade, Chief Executive Officer with Thérapie Clinic explains why, ‘When patients come to us initially they’ve usually done so because they are fed up or having to fork out large sums of money regularly for hair removal that only lasts a few weeks. That, and the fact that sometimes short term hair removal can come with its setbacks.

Waxing can be painful, and just isn’t a practical solution for many areas of the body such as the back or chest – it can also be hard on smaller areas such as the face and under the arms – making it a solution that just doesn’t work for everyone. Of course the fact that it’s painful, expensive and needs to be done very regularly to be effective makes it even less ideal – and similar to the downfalls of shaving – gives anyone with unwanted hair good reason to find out more about a permanent, affordable solution – like Laser Hair Removal.’

Sound interesting? It is, and if you’re ready to try Laser Hair Removal then here are some handy pretreatment tips to ensure you get the most from your treatments as soon as you start!

Stop waxing and using depilatory creams
Once you decide to start Laser Hair Removal it’s a good idea to stop waxing as soon as possible. The reason behind this is simple, you need to have as many hair follicles as possible present in the right stage of the hair cycle so that your treatment will be as effective as it can be to begin with. Sound a bit complicated? It’s not – here’s a little explanation that may help you to visualise this better.

There are three phases of hair growth every time a new hair is developed, and it’s important to understand that hair does not grow in unison. While one hair might be in the first stage of hair growth, the one next to it might be in the last; and that’s why one laser session will not get rid of all the hair forever.

The three stages or phases in hair growth are called anagen, catagen and telogen. The anagen stage is the perfect stage to do Laser Hair Removal as this is when the hair is available to attract and absorb the laser energy, which damages the follicle and prevents the hair from growing back.

Stopping any waxing or use of depilatory creams a few weeks before you start your Laser Hair Removal treatment will allow your hair follicles to grow in their natural stages without any disruption, and then in turn will allow your therapist to get the best results for you from the beginning of your treatment.

Remember no tweezing, waxing or plucking the area prior to your treatments – only shaving allowed! You’ll thank us in the long run!

Embrace your natural skin
Another important aspect of preparing for Laser Hair Removal is to embrace your natural skin – that means that it’s important to ensure that your treatment area is not exposed to sun for 3-4 weeks prior to treatment and should be it’s natural self in the two weeks before your appointment. That means that if you like to wear fake tan, you might need to have a little break from it to ensure you get the most from your treatment.

Why no natural or fake tan you might wonder – well it’s simple – Laser hair removal treatments work by directing a beam of light or wavelength at the pigment in your hair follicles. That wavelength then converts to heat as it passes through the skin, before being absorbed by your hair’s pigment.

This absorption damages the follicle enough to prevent future hair growth. Put simply, the stronger the hair – and the greater the contrast between your skin tone and hair colour – the easier it is for light to detect it. If the skin in the treatment area is tanned, the energy from the laser will be absorbed into the skin rather than the follicle, making your treatment less effective and putting your skin at risk from discolouration too.

Shave before your Laser Hair Removal appointment
Worried about the best way to present you’re for treatment – don’t be. The simple rule to remember is that it is always important to shave the area at least 24 hours before your appointment. Shaving on the day of your session can be tricky as it’s important to avoid nicks and cuts or the potential for the razor to lift a layer of skin as it cuts your hair. Minding your skin by shaving the day before will ensure that your skin is in the best shape possible for Laser treatment.

Use a good old fashioned razor too if you can as electric razors are not recommended as sometimes they leave your hair too long, it’s important that all hairs are cut short for your appointment.

Switch up your beauty regime
We all love a good anti-wrinkle cream or an acid that’s going to give us a glow from here to Mars, but if you’re seriously interested in getting all of the benefits from your Laser Hair Removal appointment, then you’re going to need to give the scrubs, glycolic acid and retinol creams a miss for a few days before your appointments, and also for up to two days after your appointments.
Another useful skincare trick is to up your hydration game before and during your treatment – so lather on as much extra moisture as you can. It’s time to get the nice face mist out if you’re having your treatment on your face, and use all body lotions to help you to lock in moisture if you’re having a leg or body treatment.

Think clean and fresh and be ready!
On the day of your appointment you need the area to be cleanly shaven and free from makeup, lotion, deodorant and sunscreen. Ensuring you have no fake or natural tan on your treated area is important too – but after that you are ready to go!

Your first session is something to look forward to! The team in Thérapie Clinic has over twenty years experience providing best in market Laser Hair Removal to thousands of men and women across Ireland.

And remember, if you’ve got more questions about preparing for your treatment, or indeed questions on any aspect of Laser Hair Removal then you can call the team in Thérapie at any stage before your treatment, so that you feel confident and in the know about Ireland’s favourite way to remove unwanted hair before you start your sessions!

Two women with different skin tones show off their smooth legs after having laser hair removal in London.

Get sleek and lustrous with laser hair removal in London

As lockdown lifts, you might be thinking about treating yourself with a little laser hair removal in London. And who could blame you? As a permanent hair removal method, it offers something special that no other hair removal method can. With a course of treatments, you can look forward to staying sleek and lustrous forever. If there’s one thing the lockdown has taught us, it’s that permanent treatments are a blessing! But before you go rushing in, there are some things you need to do before and after your laser hair removal treatment to ensure you get the best results.

Choosing a laser hair removal clinic in London

First up is choosing a laser hair removal clinic in London so that you can get booked in. We recommend that you take a look at reviews and find a clinic that specialises in aesthetic treatments. It’s also important to ensure they’re using the latest laser hair removal machines as this can make a difference to your experience and the results you get.

At Therapie Clinic, we’ve been offering aesthetic treatments for over twenty years and have rave reviews. All our London laser hair removal clinics are also fitted with the latest technology. And if you’re worried about cost, we keep our laser hair removal prices affordable, but we also ensures you will get the best deal out there.

Before you get laser treatment

Once you’re booked in, you can get ready for your laser hair removal treatment. While it might sound odd, it is crucial that you shave to remove any hairs from the area you are having treated. This is the case whether you’re a woman having laser hair removal for the bikini area or a man seeking to get rid of back hair. This is due to the way laser hair removal works. Plus, you’ll also need to be tan-free at the time of your appointment.

But don’t worry. You’ll receive a consultation before your treatment, ensuring everything is okay for your treatment to go ahead.

Laser hair removal aftercare

At Therapie Clinic, we also offer a post-treatment consultation. This is when we will go through all of the aftercare in detail. After all, we want you to get the best results with the minimum amount of side effects.

The aftercare required is straightforward and is necessary to protect your skin. You’ll need to avoid heat from baths, showers, jacuzzis etc., for the first 48 hours. It is also best to wear loose-fitting clothing for a couple of days. These will prevent the skin from getting irritated and reduce any redness.

Book the best laser hair removal in London

As you can see, laser hair removal is an effective and straightforward treatment with only a little before and aftercare required. If you’re ready to look sleek and lustrous, either download our app, give us a call on 08000 121 565 or book your online consultation here to get the best laser hair removal London has to offer.

Regrowth after laser hair removal

Laser hair removal is a permanent treatment. But what if you start experiencing regrowth? If you’ve been having laser treatment and then begin spotting some hair regrowth, you can end up feeling a little despondent. You might even start to doubt that laser treatment is a permanent hair removal method.

With lockdowns shutting clinics multiple times over the last year, the chance of you experiencing regrowth have increased, particularly if you’ve not completed your treatment. However, we’re here to explain to you exactly what’s going on with your regrowth and what you can do about it to get the best results from your laser hair removal.

How laser hair removal works

Before we can talk any more about regrowth, we need to explain a little about how your hair grows and how laser hair removal works. However hairy you might have felt in the past, the truth is not all your hairs are growing at once.

In fact, there are three stages of hair growth. When it is in the active phase, hairs are receiving a blood supply and are growing. However, the catagen phase is a transition stage lasting about 2-3 weeks, and finally, there’s the dormant stage when the hair follicle is inactive.

A diagram demonstrating hair regrowth following laser hair removal. It shows how each treatment reduces the number of hairs and their thickness

Laser hair removal works by passing heat down a hair and into the follicle, disrupting how it works and preventing hairs from growing again. The energy from the laser also absorbs the melanin in the hair. However, the hairs must be in the active phase for the laser treatment to work.

Laser hair removal regrowth is usually down to hairs that were in the catagen or dormant phase at the time of the treatment. That’s why we always recommend a course of treatments as this increases the number of hairs that get targeted during the active phase.

How many treatments are required

The number of treatments required to get the best results from laser hair removal can vary from person to person. Essentially, each of your hairs has its own growth cycle. Usually, around 8-10 treatments, each spread out by a few weeks, will be sufficient to capture the vast majority of hairs.

Those that do regrow are likely to be much finer due to the melanin being absorbed. In most cases, this regrowth simply requires a top-up treatment once every six to twelve months. It will, over time, become less frequent, with fewer and fewer hairs regrowing.

How lockdown may impact your regrowth

Lockdown has obviously complicated courses of laser hair removal treatment. With clinics opening and closing intermittently throughout the last year, your treatment plan has probably been disrupted. If you have only had a limited number of treatments, then you might be disappointed with the regrowth that you’re experiencing.

An image sharing the message that any regrowth during lockdown is hairs that have not received laser treatment

However, please note that this is entirely normal. Once clinics are open again, you will be able to continue your treatments. It may seem like the treatments you’ve had so far have not made a difference, but there will be fewer hairs growing than there were. Lockdown has simply delayed your results.

Are you getting the best laser hair removal?

If you’ve been having laser hair removal with another provider, then there are a couple of other factors to consider as you’ve possibly not been getting the best laser hair removal treatment. For example, we are a medical clinic with highly trained professionals. This means that they have the knowledge needed to get results. In contrast, other therapists may not have the qualifications or experience.

It is also true that not all laser hair removal machines are the same. At Therapie Clinic, we only use the latest technology. These machines use a stronger, medical-grade laser that not all therapists are able to use and also allow for adjustments to be made depending on factors such as hair and skin colour.

While we can offer laser hair removal with permanent results, the same is not true everywhere.

What to do if you have concerns about regrowth?

When visiting our laser hair removal clinics, you need to ensure that you have shaved the area you want to have treated, so no hairs are visible. However, this means that we also don’t get to see the regrowth that you’re experiencing.

If you have concerns and feel you have more regrowth than you should, then it’s helpful to take photos that you can then share at your next appointment. This is regardless of whether your previous treatments were with another clinic or us. They will assist your therapist in planning your treatment or making any necessary adjustments to get you the best laser hair removal results.

No two people are the same

Above all, it’s important to remember that we are all different – it’s part of what makes human beings so wonderful. Your hairs will be different from others. They can be of different colours or thickness, and their growth phases can vary. Therefore, it’s important not to compare your results with someone else getting laser hair removal.

It’s the reason why we always include consultations before and after your treatment. That way, we can assess and support you as the unique individual you are. If you’re experiencing regrowth after laser treatment, don’t get stressed or despondent. Instead, get in touch to discuss your concerns and see how we can support you.

Get in touch

If you want to discuss hair regrowth following laser hair removal or have any other questions regarding this treatment, we are here to help. You can give us a call from the UK on 08000 121 565 or from Ireland on 1890 650 750. Alternatively, you can drop us an email at hello@therapieclinic.com.

What could laser hair removal at a UK clinic really do for men? There is an increasing number of men undergoing the treatment, so clearly it has plenty to offer. Whether it’s a treatment you’ve considered or one that’s entirely new to you, keep reading to discover the advantages that laser hair removal treatment offers men.

1. Pain-free hair removal
First, cast your mind back to a time when you’ve witnessed another man getting waxed. Maybe it was a teacher at school who decided it would be a good way for them to raise money for charity. Or perhaps you tuned into this season of The Only Way Is Essex and witnessed Diag’s screams of horror when a wax strip was pulled from his chest.

Whatever image you’ve conjured up, it’s probably not a pretty one. Hair removal methods such as waxing can be incredibly painful, especially when you consider that men tend to have more hair. Many men, therefore, tend to believe that laser hair removal would hurt too. This, however, is not the case, and most people find laser hair removal painless.

So, if you’re wanting to get rid of unwanted chest hair, you can forget those images etched into your brain of a man being waxed (however much you might have laughed at the time). Instead, you can have laser hair removal for the chest and get rid of the unwanted body hair in a pain-free and effective way.

2. Be free of unwanted hair forever

Let’s face it – hair grows back quickly. Whatever hair removal method you use for areas such as the back, you’re going to need a helping hand. The options that don’t cause you agony tend to not last long. A few days later, you’re not only having to ask for help again, but you’re also dealing with ingrown hairs and rashes.

A man is receiving laser hair removal on the chest

But laser hair removal for men is different. Following a course of treatments, laser hair removal is permanent. That means that you just need a few trips to the clinic, and then you can be rid of your unwanted hair forever. With laser hair removal for the back, you no longer need to feel self-conscious before whipping off your top, and you don’t have to rely on someone else’s help again.

3. Affordable hair removal method
Did you notice how the trend for beards coincided with the ever-increasing number of blades and price of disposable razors? We get it. Beards can be itchy and irritating, but it’s preferable to the extortionate cost of razors that last one facial shave before you’re throwing them in the bin. But don’t worry, if your someone who prefers a smooth and suave appearance, then laser hair removal for the beard is available.

But not only that, but laser hair removal also costs less than you think. As it’s permanent, it’s a one-off cost rather than something you’re constantly adding to your supermarket basket. That means it’s cheaper than other hair removal methods in the long term. All our laser hair removal prices for men can be found here. Plus, at Therapie Clinic, we offer a price match guarantee, so you never pay a penny extra.

Book laser hair removal at our UK clinics
If you’ve now recognised the laser hair removal benefits for men and want to get yourself the best available treatment in the UK, then book with Therapie Clinic. Either give us a call on 08000 121 565 or book your online consultation.

At Thérapie Clinic, we believe in delivering the best results for our clients. So, if you’re undergoing laser hair removal treatment with us in the near future, we have a few small requests for you to ensure you’re fully prepared for your treatment.
• We ask that you are freshly showered or bathed with completely clean skin, without lotions, oils, creams or fragrances of any kind before coming in.
• The treatment area should be shaved completely prior to treatment. Legs should be shaved no sooner than 24 hours prior to your appointment to avoid irritation. Do not wax, tweeze, epilate or use chemical depilatories between laser treatments. Since the laser targets the root of the hair, it must be present for the treatment to be effective. Shaving is the only form of hair removal recommended during the course of your treatments.
• Avoid all sun exposure to the treatment area for two weeks before treatment.
• Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or above on a daily basis – rain or shine!
• Do not use any topical products that cause photosensitivity (e.g. hydroxy acids, salicylic acid, retinols, and benzoyl peroxide) in the treatment areas for three days before treatment. Use a gentle cleanser and lotion on treated areas.
• Follow instructions regarding all oral prescription medications that we provided at your medical laser consultation. If you are taking any new or different medications, including antibiotics, contact our office prior to your appointment.
• Do not have anti-wrinkle injections, dermal filler injections, chemical peels or microdermabrasion in the treatment area for at least 14 days before laser hair removal.
What to Expect During Your Laser Hair Removal Appointment
Following the consultation, if we determine you are a good candidate, we will proceed with treatment. Your laser technician will begin by asking a few pertinent questions about your recent health history to ensure there are no contraindications for treatment. The technician will discuss your treatment desires and at that time you can specifically let us know what hair you want removed. The treatment area will be cleansed and prepared for treatment. Your technician will talk you through the treatment to ensure you won’t experience any surprises.
While receiving laser hair removal, you will be required to wear protective eyewear. You may still be able to see a flash of light, but your eyes will be completely covered. The laser technicians wear protective eyewear, as well. During the treatment, all areas of the body that will not be lasered will be covered with clothing. Only the areas to receive laser treatment will be exposed. We are always mindful of your comfort and your peace of mind; we will let you know ahead of time what to expect.

After Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment

A lot of the same rules apply when it comes to aftercare for your laser hair removal treatment.
It is normal to experience redness and swelling in the treatment area following laser hair removal. This may persist for several days. The treated area may feel like a razor burn or sunburn for a few hours after treatment. Thérapie Clinic will provide you with aloe vera treatment so you can alleviate this sensation at home.
Hair in the treated area will slowly shed, typically over the course of two weeks. Patchiness of hair growth is normal and will dissipate towards the completion of your laser hair removal treatment series.
Improper post-treatment care, including excessive heat or sun exposure of the treated area, may increase the chance of scarring, pigmentation changes and skin texture changes. It is imperative that you avoid excessive heat in the treatment area, such as hot tubs, saunas or working out for 24 hours after laser hair removal treatment. Avoid sun exposure to the treatment area, and do not use UV tanning beds at all for two weeks after treatment.
Use a broad-spectrum sunblock with an SPF of 30 or above daily (rain or shine).
Do not use any topical products that cause photosensitivity (e.g. hydroxy acids, salicylic acid, retinols, and benzoyl peroxide) in the treatment areas for three days after treatment. Use a gentle cleanser and lotion on treated areas.
Follow instructions regarding all oral medications that we provided at your medical laser consultation.
Do not have anti-wrinkle injections, dermal filler injections, chemical peels or microdermabrasion in the treatment area for at least 14 days after laser hair removal.
Treatments should be scheduled as follows:
• Facial Areas: Every 4-6 weeks
• Trunk Areas: Every 6-8 weeks
• Leg Areas: Every 8-10 weeks

Some women get embarrassed about getting laser hair removal on their Brazilian area. Treatments in this intimate area may feel a little intimidating to begin with. If you are new to laser hair removal it’s normal to be embarrassed, the majority of women feel the exact same way starting off but it will get easier over time. Try these simple things to make you feel a little less self-conscious about your treatments

• Request the same therapist throughout your course of treatment
• Ask for a large towel to cover sections of your bikini area throughout your session
• Try adding a distraction like listening to music on your phone or chatting to your therapist throughout your session as this does make the time go quicker

Does laser hair removal get less embarrassing over time?

Thérapie Clinic has carved a niche, creating an exceptionally strong, recognized brand through the supply of affordable, accessible and most up to date Laser and Aesthetic treatments available globally.

Trust is one of our core values and our aim is to empower our clients, women and men, to become the best possible version of themselves. We want to not just meet your expectations, but to exceed them.

Got a question about laser hair removal? Our expert staff are here to answer them.

Can I get laser hair removal if I have a tattoo?
Yes, it is safe to have laser hair removal if you have a tattoo. However, it is unsafe to laser directly over your tattoo. The area where you have your tattoo must be avoided for safety reasons.

Laser is designed to absorb into anything on the skin that contains dark pigment. Tattoos contain larger patches of pigment which will cause more heat to be absorbed by the laser. When laser is pulsed over the skin hair follicles are much smaller in size so the heat delivered by the laser will not be as destructive. This heat travels down the hair shaft and will destroy tiny cells at the base of the hair follicle. These interconnecting cells bring blood flow to the hair helping it to grow and if laser disables these hairs lose their blood supply and don’t regrow.

Where is your tattoo?

If you have a tattoo on your ribs and are targeting the body hair on your underarms, you likely won’t have a problem. You can expect an issue if you have a full sleeve and want to get rid of the hair on your arms, or if you have a tattoo on your thigh and want laser hair removal on your legs. Unfortunately, laser hair removal cannot be done over the tattoo and must work around it, so keep that in mind if you are planning to get any more tattoos in the future.

What your options are
If you’re trying to keep your tattoo but get rid of the surrounding hair, your expert laser hair removal technician at Thérapie Clinic will likely create a template to place over your ink. This will ensure that the laser doesn’t affect the skin around your tattoo and allow you to get hair removal everywhere else. Typically, your technician will ensure there are at least 2 to 3 centimeters between your tattoo and the treated area. If your tattoo is protected, there is no risk of it being ruined by laser hair removal.

For those who are looking into getting rid of an unwanted tattoo as well as laser hair removal, it’s best to focus on getting rid of the tattoo first. You will likely have to wait until your laser tattoo removal is complete before you can start the hair elimination process, but each case is different. It really depends on where your tattoo is located and how much overlap there is between your ink and the hair you want to be removed.

To find out more, contact Thérapie Clinic on 1890 650 750 or by visiting your local branch today.

Have you spent the last few weeks catching up on your beauty appointments? Trust Thérapie Clinic when we say we have missed treating you almost as much as you’ve missed getting your treatments.

If your laser hair removal appointment has been at the top of your list or your sessions were interrupted due to the COVID-19, here is what you need to know about your next appointment at Thérapie Clinic.

Laser hair removal sessions are typically spaced six weeks apart to treat hair during the regrowth cycle. You will need a course of treatments as laser only works on hair that is in the growth phase of the hair cycle, known as Anagen. The other two phases of the hair cycle, called Catagen and Telogen, mean the hair is either dormant or falling out; the laser doesn’t impact it. As all of your hair is in different phases at different times, you need several treatments spread out over a number of weeks to ensure the laser ‘catches’ the each of the hairs in their growth phase at some point.

This repeated process leads to permanent hair reduction. However, if appointments are missed or spaced out for too long, such as four months, then on hormonal areas such as face, one may see regrowth. On nonhormonal areas, depending on what stage the person is with their treatments, the difference should not be too much and can be made up during the follow-up treatments.

How this long gap between treatments will affect your results largely depends on the individual and how many sessions you’ve had so far.

Anyone heading back to Thérapie Clinic to resume treatment after this hiatus should be prepared to need an additional session or two, or at least come back with a higher frequency than before.

For clients who missed sessions due to COVID-19, we may do their spacing shorter and apply a different regimen to give them optimum results. Those on a treatment plan in our facility will be taken care of, so that they get the optimum results from their treatments.

If you do need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, Thérapie Clinic will do our best to accommodate you – but please keep in mind that demand is higher than usual as people get back to their normal lives!

Call 1890 650 750 to speak to one of our staff members now, or book now via the official Thérapie Clinic App.

Laser hair removal in the UK
Laser hair removal in the UK is back! With lockdown easing, it won’t be long before you can visit our clinics and wave goodbye to that unwanted hair. The UK’s love of laser hair removal is not without reason.

Those who’ve already had a course of treatments, would have been feeling slightly smug over recent months. That’s because laser hair removal is permanent. Once your hair has been treated at the different points of its growth cycle, you can be hair-free forever! Plus, there’s the lack of red rashes, ingrown hairs, itchy stubble growth…need we go on?

But which areas of the body can you have treated?

Laser hair removal for the bikini
Let’s get right to the sensitive stuff! When people first consider this treatment, the main question they have is “does laser hair removal hurt?” The simple answer is no. Some describe the sensation as a bit like an elastic band snapping against the skin.

However, at Therapie Clinic, we only use the latest technology, and our laser machines cool your skin at the same time as it’s being treated. This means many feel hardly anything. Compared to waxing? Laser hair removal treatment is much more comfortable!

That means laser hair removal for the bikini line is a popular choice. We offer four different styles from a quick tidy up to going completely bare. Our laser hair removal prices for the bikini area start at £25. But just so you are totally confident in the value we offer, we also have a price match guarantee.

Laser hair removal for the back
Ok, so our automatic assumption when we think of laser treatment is to think this is something for women. However, laser hair removal for men is also incredibly popular.

One of the most common treatments for men is laser hair removal for the back. Some men are not fans of the hair they have on their back. In fact, they can feel very self-conscious about it. For example, they may think twice before removing their top. But it is also not an area that they can treat on their own. The permanency of laser treatment is, therefore, highly attractive.

At Therapie Clinic, we have many men visit us for laser hair removal. Sometimes they just want to tidy up the hairline or eyebrows. But more often than not, they want to treat a larger area such as the chest or back. The cost of laser hair removal for the back, shoulders and neck is £103. Again, we have our price match guarantee, which means that if you find your treatment cheaper elsewhere, we’ll beat it by 10%.

Got unwanted hair? Laser hair removal will sort it!
Essentially, laser hair removal is suitable for all areas of the body (although, obviously it must be kept away from your eyes!). If you have unwanted hair somewhere on your body, then laser hair removal at our UK clinics will get rid of it. Other common treatments include laser hair removal for underarms, the upper lip, legs, and chest.

We have clinics offering laser hair removal across the UK. If you want to banish the fuzz, book an online consultation or give us a call on 08000 121 565 and we’ll answer your questions and get you booked in!

The UK’s laser hair removal trends
Laser hair removal in the UK has moved from being a treatment for the few to one that is widely accessible and available on our high streets. Where once it was only women who sought this treatment, laser hair removal for men is now rapidly growing. It’s hardly surprising when you compare the results to other hair removal methods. Laser hair removal is permanent and protects against issues such as razor rashes and red, ingrown hairs and spots.

Who can get laser hair removal treatment?

But it’s not only men who are now appearing in clinics. In the past, laser hair removal wasn’t suitable for many people, particularly for those with darker skin or fairer hair. However, over the last decade, there have been considerable advances in the technology and laser hair removal for dark skin types and blonde hair is now available.
It’s essential to get this done by a professional clinic though so that they can ensure the settings are perfect for your skin and hair colour. That’s why at Therapie Clinic, we always give you a pre-treatment consultation. This allows us to assess you beforehand and ensure you’re suitable for the treatment.

What areas of the body can be treated with laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is safe to use anywhere except the eyes, which means it is suitable for all unwanted body hair. It can even be used on sensitive areas.

Laser hair removal for the bikini area is available at all our UK clinics

In fact, laser hair removal for the bikini area is one of our most popular treatments. We offer four different styles from a quick tidy up to the full Hollywood. Women also tend to use laser hair removal for legs, underarms and the upper lip.

For men, laser hair removal for the back is an obvious choice with it being an area that they’re unable to deal with themselves. Other popular options include the chest, back of neck and face.

How much does laser hair removal cost?
Laser hair removal prices vary depending on the size of the area you are treating. For women, laser hair removal prices start at £19 for the upper lip. The price of laser hair removal for men begins at £32 for the centre brow.

We also offer a price match guarantee so you can be sure that you’re not only getting the best treatment but also getting it at the best price. Find your treatment available for cheaper elsewhere, and we’ll beat it by 10%.

The best laser hair removal in the UK
We have clinics offering laser hair removal across the UK. All of them are fitted with the latest technology. We have also carried out millions of successful treatments and are award winners. If you want to get summer ready with laser hair removal treatment, book your online consultation or give us a call on 08000 121 565.

Laser hair removal for bikini line
Are you looking ahead to your summer holiday when you’ll be living in your bikinis and beachwear? Or perhaps you like to take a swim now and then? Whatever the reason, many women want to keep their bikini line tidy. However, it’s an area that can be difficult to deal with yourself. Plus, get it wrong, and it can be painful!

With laser hair removal for the bikini, we offer four different options from a quick tidy up to going completely bare, Hollywood style. Depending on which you choose, the cost of laser hair removal on the bikini is between £25 and £45.

Laser hair removal for legs
Fancy whipping out that short skirt for your night out on the town? Or want to wear your shorts while you stroll down Southbank?
It’s not uncommon for women to hide their legs under trousers in the winter and not bother removing the hairs. Let’s face it, this is the largest area you are likely to deal with, and it can be a bit of a pain.

Laser hair removal on the legs costs less than you think

But just imagine for a moment that you never have to worry about unwanted leg hair again. Any time you want to wear a skirt or go for a swim, you can do so without having to deal with painful wax strips or rashes from shaving. That’s what makes laser hair removal on the legs so popular. After a course of treatments, you don’t even need to give it a thought. Your legs are always in tip-top shape.

But how much does laser hair removal on the legs cost? It depends on whether you want to treat the whole leg or just the lower half and whether you’re having anything else treated as well. When it comes to investing in yourself, you want to make sure that you’re getting the best of the best, right? Why should laser hair removal be any different? Thérapie Clinic offers the gold standard of laser hair removal treatment, having been named the number one clinic in Europe for aesthetics treatments. We know you take results seriously, which why we’re committed to delivering them.

To ensure you get the most out of your treatments, Thérapie Clinic asks you to adhere to the following dos and don’ts of laser hair removal

Before laser hair removal
Firstly, before you undergo any laser treatment at Thérapie Clinic, you must not expose the treated area to the sun or a sun bed. A sunscreen of SPF 30, or preferably a total sun block of SPF 50, should be applied whenever exposure to the sun is unavoidable. In the event that you have been extensively exposed to the sun prior to treatment, your appointment will be rescheduled to three weeks later – something to keep in mind if you’re booking any holidays!

You must avoid plucking, waxing or bleaching the hair for six weeks prior to treatment. Preserving the root and the pigment of the hair is imperative for the success of the laser treatment, as the laser only works if there is hair in the follicle.

It is important to shave the area to be treated the day or night before your appointment. Doing this will prevent thermal injury to the surface of the skin as there won’t be hair on the surface to absorb the laser’s energy. It will allow the laser to go directly to the hair follicle. It will also let the skin heal in case the surface is cut whilst shaving.

During laser hair removal
During the procedure certain safety considerations are important. The patient and any other person in the laser room needs protective eye wear to prevent the risk of damage to the retina. A jet of cool air is used with the laser to minimise epidermal damage and increase patient comfort.

After laser hair removal
Immediately following treatment, the area may show erythema (redness and some swelling) around the follicles which looks similar to large goose bumps.

Around 2 or 3 weeks after a laser hair removal treatment 10 to 20% of the treated hairs will fall out. During the healing phase, the area must be treated delicately. Do not rub or scratch. Apply a thin layer of aloe vera ointment to the treated area several times a day to keep it moist. Pat the area dry. Do not shave the area if is swollen or crusting.

Discomfort or stinging may be relieved with Paracetamol. Do not take Ibuprofen or Aspirin as these medicines may react to the laser light. Avoid sports and strenuous exercise for two days following the treatment for laser hair removal (walking is fine though!)

Avoid very hot baths, showers, steam baths or saunas, and don’t swim in strong chlorinated water for two or three days. Don’t use bleaching creams or perfume products for 24 to 48 hours. Avoid exfoliating or peels for one week. Try to avoid wearing tight clothing for two or three days. Our experts at Thérapie Clinic will provide you with a full post-treatment plan which will address any further queries.

As the UK’s leading provider, we don’t believe in keeping secrets about laser hair removal. Our clinics have carried out millions of treatments over the years. Now, with our expansion into London, we’re lifting the lid and telling you everything you want to know about laser hair removal at our London clinics.

How does laser hair removal work?
For those who are new to this, their first want to understand how laser hair removal works and what kind of results it can achieve. It is a quick and straightforward procedure that involves passing a laser over the area to be treated. The laser sends heat down the hair to the follicle, stopping it from working. That means that unlike other methods, laser hair removal is permanent as the hairs can no longer grow back.

What areas can be treated with laser hair removal?
It can be used anywhere but the eyes. This is just one of the many reasons it’s so popular. At Therapie Clinic, we offer a range of packages. For example, laser hair removal for legs, bikini and underarms is available for women.

However, laser hair removal for men is also becoming increasingly popular. This can range between small treatments such as the centre brown and more extensive ones such as laser hair removal for back, shoulders and neck.

In other words, if you have unwanted hair, laser hair removal can help you get rid of it permanently.

What to expect during your laser hair removal appointment?
At Therapie Clinic, you will be greeted by our friendly staff. Before your laser hair removal treatment starts, you will have a consultation to check suitability and run through what you are wanting from your treatment. Once your laser hair removal is completed, you will have another consultation that will cover the aftercare advice.

How much does laser hair removal cost?
The first thing to say is that laser hair removal prices are affordable. At Therapie Clinic, we also offer a price match guarantee to give you peace of mind that you’re not paying more than necessary.

Costs vary depending on the size of the area you are having treated. As a guide, laser hair removal for chest and stomach is £103 whereas laser hair removal for bikini and underarm is £49.

To get permanent results from laser hair removal, you do need to have a course of treatments. This is because not all hairs are growing at the same time, and instead, they grow in a cycle. The number of treatments required varies from person to person, but on average, it takes around 6-8 laser hair removal sessions.

How to book your laser hair removal in London
We have six clinics within the London area, including Uxbridge, Marylebone and Stratford. All are fitted out to the highest specification with the latest technology. To book your appointment, you can pop into your local clinic, use our online booking here, or give us a call on 08000 121 565. If you’re in London and want to get rid of unwanted hair, we’re here waiting to help you!

With spring in full swing, many of us will be thinking about dusting off our spring wardrobe and, dare we say it, swapping tights for bare legs. But with warmer weather comes greater pressure to keep our skin smooth and fuzz-free.

While it’s probably the most effective at-home method for removing unwanted hair, waxing is painful, messy and often quite expensive – costing the average person €18,000 in their lifetime!

Laser hair removal at Thérapie Clinic – Europe’s number one aesthetics clinic – is the answer, as it offers long-lasting results for a fraction of the price per year.

What is laser hair removal?
Laser Hair Removal is a safe and effective way of removing unwanted hair, permanently. The way it works is simple. Light is absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair follicle. The laser’s light energy heats the pigment and destroys the hair follicle. It only affects the specific structures of the hair and follicle, leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.

And unlike other laser hair removal methods, the effects are permanent, thanks to the high absorption wavelength and shot pulse duration that heats and destroys the hair follicle.

It’s also a good option if you’re plagued by ingrown hairs. If you shave in the first few days after your treatment, that will help lift off dead hairs and leaves your skin silky smooth.

Does it hurt?

While it sounds dramatic, it’s nowhere near as painful as waxing; you may feel a prickly sensation but it’s very bearable.

How long does a session of laser hair removal take?
How long the sessions take depends on the size of the area you’re having treated. An upper lip can take just 30 seconds, an underarm is approximately a minute and full legs take around 10 minutes.

When will I see results?
For most people, they’ll results after just six sessions of laser hair removal, and its permanence means it saves you money on razors and waxing in the long run.

After the first treatment, the hairs will be dead and they take about a week to make their way out of the follicle – after which you will be hair free for a period of time until the next phase of hair growth appears.

These are not the same hairs. At any one time, only 30 per cent of the hair in the skin is in the growing (or Anagen) stage, and laser can only treat growing hairs. The other two phases of the hair cycle, called Catagen and Telogen, mean the hair is either dormant or falling out; so the laser doesn’t impact it. As all of your hair is in different phases at different times, you need several treatments spread out over a number of weeks to ensure the laser ‘catches’ the each of the hairs in their growth phase at some point.

Why get laser hair removal in London?
Let’s get honest – winter is a time when we can let our beauty routines go a little. We remove unwanted hair less frequently. After all, who cares about the hair carefully hidden under clothing? That is until we decide to jet off for some winter sun or make our annual effort to visit the gym.

Suddenly, we realise we’ve got to drag out that hair removal cream, wax or razors. It’s such a bore and a drag. But with laser hair removal at our London clinics, you can forget your unwanted hair woes. Instead, you can get on with the million and one things you would much rather be doing.

Laser hair removal – a permanent solution
That’s because laser hair removal is permanent. With the lasers sending heat to the destroy the hair follicle, those pesky hairs cannot grow back again. Can you imagine the relief of throwing away all your hair removal products? Being able to just grab your gym bag and run? Not having to go through the pain of waxing everything before your holiday?

To get these permanent results you do need a course of laser hair removal treatment so that the hairs can be treated at all stages of their growth cycle but once you’re done…that’s it!

More time for the good stuff
Laser hair removal is ideal for those that have busy lifestyles. Not having to shave or wax regularly frees up your time. If you’re a mum, that means you don’t need to worry about a load of products that need to be kept out of your child’s reach, and you can instead focus on your never-ending to-do list. Let’s face it, you don’t get to go to the loo in peace, let alone the time to shave! If you’re young, fancy-free and single, you get more time to enjoy parties and dates without all the hassle beforehand.

Laser hair removal for men
Men are increasingly wanting to remove body hair, but that’s not always easy. There’s the small issue of areas that can’t be reached alone, and the hair also tends to be thicker and coarser. This can result in painful and red ingrown hairs. However, as laser hair removal for men stops the growth of the hair, you will no longer need to worry about this or finding someone to give you a hand regularly!

Is laser hair removal painful?
You know those videos of men screeching when a wax strip is pulled off? Those don’t exist for laser hair removal treatments. Why? Because laser hair removal is not painful. Most people experience no discomfort at all, and for a few, it has just a mild tingling sensation.

How much does laser hair removal cost?

Obviously, this depends on the size of the area that you are having treated. However, it is very affordable, and here at Therapie Clinic, we offer a price match guarantee for your peace of mind. We also have a special offer now where you can buy one area laser hair removal and get the second area for just 1p! As a guide, laser hair removal for the upper lip is only £19, and laser hair removal for a man’s centre brow costs £32.

Where to get laser hair removal in London
We have numerous clinics offering laser hair removal in London. For example, we have clinics in Bromley, Stratford and White City as well as our flagship clinic in Marylebone. You can find details of our clinics here, including those that are opening soon.

If you want to get the best laser hair removal in London, then give us a call on 08000 121 565 or pop into your local clinic where we’ll be more than happy to help you.

What can you really expect from laser hair removal in the UK?
There’s a growing interest in laser hair removal in the UK, but what’s the truth about what you can expect from this treatment? Rumours abound between friends of friends and the internet, but how much of it is true? What is laser hair removal really like? Having performed over five million treatments, Therapie Clinic is the leading expert in laser hair removal treatments. We’re here to tell you what you can really expect.

Is laser hair removal painful?
This is one of the most common questions we get. Most people find that laser hair removal is pain free. Those who do feel some discomfort describe the sensation as the snapping of an elastic band. However, what everyone does agree is that it is less painful than other hair removal methods such as waxing.

In addition, our commitment to advanced technologies means that we use laser machines that also have a cooling feature that reduces any tenderness you might feel.

Before and after laser hair removal
At Therapie Clinic, we offer consultations before and after laser hair removal. This ensures that you get the best possible results from your treatment. During your initial consultation we will check things such as what you are wanting to gain from laser hair removal and assess your skin tone and hair colour to ensure you receive the right level of laser treatment. After your treatment, we will go over any aftercare advice needed.

Laser hair removal results
You will notice the results as soon as your hair starts growing again. You will find that the hairs will be finer and that there will be less of them. This is because the heat from the laser destroys the hair follicle which prevents the hair from growing again. However, not all of your hairs are growing at the same time. That’s why a course of around six treatments is needed to get laser hair removal’s permanent results.

After your course of treatments, you will be able to ditch the wax, razors and all other hair removal paraphernalia forever!

How much does laser hair removal cost?
Prices vary depending on which area of your body you are having treated. However, in recent years, the advancements made in this treatment has made it very affordable. Laser hair removal costs at our UK clinics start as low as £19. All our clinics also offer laser hair removal for men with prices beginning at £32 for the centre brow.

Plus, we have our lowest price guarantee, which means that if you find the same treatment available at a lower price, we’ll beat it by 10%.

Where can I get laser hair removal near me?
We have clinics across the country, offering laser hair removal in the UK, from Edinburgh to Bromley. You can find out more about our clinics here. Our award-winning clinics are friendly and welcoming places where our staff are more than happy to answer your questions.

You can book your appointment online, pop into your local store or give us a call on 08000 121 565 and get the best laser hair removal treatment in the UK.

The rise of laser hair removal in the UK
Laser hair removal has grown in popularity in the UK for a good reason. As fashion trends have moved towards smoother bodies, people have been trying to find convenient and easy ways to remove unwanted hair. The advantages and results that laser hair removal treatments offer means it has become a firm favourite of many.

Once you’ve read the advantages below, you’ll also be hanging up your trusty razor and making the switch to having laser hair removal at our UK clinics.

Results of laser hair removal
Unlike shaving, laser hair removal stops any painful, red spots developing from ingrown hairs. You can also say goodbye to any itchy stubble regrowth. Instead, the laser targets the hair follicle and disrupts it, stopping the hair from growing.

That means that laser hair removal is permanent. Because not all the hairs grow at the same time, it takes a course of treatment to get these results, but from the first treatment, you will notice a reduction in the number of hairs growing.

No other method can offer these kinds of results. That’s why it is so popular with those who’ve had enough of spending their time shaving, waxing or using messy removal creams.

Cost of laser hair removal
Prices of laser hair removal in the UK are much lower than many expect. For example, laser hair removal on the upper lip costs just £19. For added assurance, Therapie Clinic also offers a price match guarantee – if you find your laser hair removal treatment cheaper elsewhere, we’ll beat the price by 10%.

Laser hair removal on the upper lip. This treatment is available at our UK clinics.

Don’t forget that because the results are permanent, you can have your course of treatments and not need anything again. That means that laser hair removal is also cheaper than methods such as shaving and waxing, where you are continually buying the required products for decades. Let’s face it, razors are not cheap and are only set to rise in cost!

Suitable for all areas
If you have unwanted hair, then we can remove it with laser hair removal. Our UK clinics can treat any area of your body, as long as it doesn’t involve your eyes. Popular treatments include laser hair removal on legs, bikini lines and underarms.

Laser hair removal for men is also available at all our clinics and is on the increase. This often includes laser hair removal on the back and chest. The full beard treatment has proved particularly popular with the trans community.

Why Therapie Clinic
It’s clear that there are considerable advantages to laser hair removal. Our UK clinics all offer this treatment, but why choose us? Well, we’re the UK’s leading aesthetic clinic and have over twenty years of experience. During that time, we’ve delivered over five million treatments. We only employ the best medical professionals, and our clinics are fitted with the latest technology to give you great results.

Get yourself booked in for your laser hair removal treatment by calling 08000 121 565 or pop into your nearest store.

As humans, we have a complicated relationship with body hair. We rip it out of our skin with hot wax, shave it off with sharp blades, or dissolve it with chemical depilatories. Those of us who want it gone spend precious time, money and energy seeking the most effective methods—only for it to stubbornly grow back a few days or weeks later.

Enter laser hair removal – a hair removal method which promises a reprieve from this never-ending cycle of removal and regrowth. While the procedure is common, it’s one that should only be administered by a licensed professional who has experience working with a range of skin tones like Thérapie Clinic.

Once you’ve had your initial consultation and booked your first session with us, these are the next few steps you’ll need to follow to ensure you get the best results.

Remove all fake tan
For at least four weeks before the appointment, you will need to avoid self-tanning products and the sun (not that that will be hard here in Ireland!). Having a natural or fake tan can increase the risk of side effects of laser hair removal including skin lightening, blistering and burning. It can also impact on the overall result of the procedure.

Put down the bleach
Laser hair removal works by targeting the root of hairs. Your hair pigment or color can be found in the root and absorbs the light produced by the laser, ultimately destroying the hair permanently. When you bleach your hair, it alters the pigment and makes the hair more difficult to target. Bleaching should be stopped six weeks prior to your laser hair removal treatment, which is enough time for the hair roots to grow back in their natural color.

Shave the treatment area
It might sound strange, but you will be advised to shave the treatment area one or two days before laser hair removal. Please note, it should not be done on the day of the treatment as this will only make your skin more sensitive. Shaving a day or so beforehand is an important part of the process as it encourages the hair to enter the active growing stage, which is what the laser targets.

Furthermore, you must avoid waxing, plucking or bleaching in the weeks leading up to your appointment. Waxing works by tearing the hairs out by the root. As mentioned previously, laser hair removal works by the laser targeting the hair follicles. In other words, the laser needs hair to target and waxing gets rid of this, therefore reducing the effectiveness of the treatment.

Avoid caffeine and tight clothing
Skip your morning latte – items like caffeine can increase sensitivity. If you wear tight clothing for work, or certain irritable materials, you’d probably be better going for a weekend appointment as you need to have attire that will allow your skin to breathe afterwards to prevent irritation.

Check your medications
It’s important that when you speak to your laser professional at Thérapie Clinic that you inform them of the medications that you’re taking, both oral and topical. Some medications can intervene with your laser treatments, making them less effective. Other medications can make the skin sensitive and more likely to burn or blister. You should especially inform your laser technician if you are on antibiotics, birth control, acne, and photosensitizing medications. You won’t have to stop taking your medication, but your laser professional will be able to adjust your treatment accordingly and proceed with caution. Additionally, if you begin taking any new medications you should be sure to let them know prior to your next appointment.

By following these recommendations, you will significantly reduce the risk of experiencing side effects caused by your laser treatments. Additionally, you’ll be sure to get the most out of your laser hair removal treatments and get results that will last a lifetime.

As we enter a new decade, full of new opportunities and change, isn’t it time you said goodbye to razors for good? Stop surrendering your spare change to the shackles of shaving once for and for all, and say hello to laser hair removal at Therapie Clinic, Europe’s number one aesthetics clinic.

Thérapie Clinic only use medical grade lasers, the most advanced technology available, which safely deliver superior results and faster treatment times.

Guaranteed results
Thérapie Clinic can guarantee successful results. Although we recommend a course of six treatments, a significant difference will be apparent after just two or three. Our experienced therapists will consider your skin and hair type before creating a personalised treatment plan.

Why do you need a course of treatment? It’s simple – you will need a course of treatments as laser only works on hair that is in the growth phase of the hair cycle, known as Anagen. The other two phases of the hair cycle, called Catagen and Telogen, mean the hair is either dormant or falling out; the laser doesn’t impact it.

As all your hair is in different phases at different times, you need several treatments spread out over several weeks to ensure the laser ‘catches’ the each of the hairs in their growth phase at some point.

Does laser hair removal hurt?
As with all treatments, it depends on the person and how sensitive they are, as well as the area being treated. We use Cynosure lasers, both of which have additional cooling devices to decrease sensitivity during treatment. The sensation is similar to an elastic band being snapped against your skin, and because the laser is moving all the time, the sensation is well-tolerated by most people. It’s advisable to avoid caffeine before your treatment as it can make your skin more sensitive. You can take a mild pain reliever (Paracetamol; NOT Ibuprofen as this also makes the skin sensitive).

Why Thérapie Clinic?
Thérapie Clinic is a trusted and professional brand that is a leading provider of laser hair removal and aesthetic treatments. Thérapie Clinic have invested in the very latest FDA-approved technology – Cynosure lasers – to deliver measurable results for our clients.

Our experienced medical team has delivered more than five million treatments, a volume that has enabled us to offer our services at accessible and affordable prices.

What’s the deal with laser hair removal and ingrown hairs?
Both men and women can suffer from ingrown hairs. You shave or wax to get a clean look and smoother skin only for large, red and painful lumps to appear. It’s often just accepted as a side effect of hair removal. But with laser hair removal, ingrown hairs can be a thing of the past.
What are ingrown hairs, and what causes them?
These are hairs that either grow sideways or curl back into the skin. As the hair tries to grow, red inflammation starts to appear. Sometimes the hair follicle can become infected. They don’t look good, and they don’t feel good!
Ingrown hairs are generally caused by shaving or waxing. They can even be caused by clothing that rubs on the skin. The hair gets broken off, leaving a sharpness that can then grow into the skin. Those with curly hair do tend to be more prone to them.
Ingrown hairs can appear in a variety of areas after shaving or waxing such as the under the arms, face, legs and bikini line.
Laser hair removal and ingrown hairs
However, laser hair removal does not cause ingrown hairs. The laser technology works at the level of the hair follicle, disrupting it and preventing the hairs from growing. This means they are not being broken off.
Plus, laser hair removal is permanent. Early treatment thins the hair, so it comes through finer, but after a full course, the hairs stop growing. This means you can prevent ingrown hairs from other causes such as clothing. What’s not to love about no more, unsightly red lumps?!
Laser hair removal in the UK – your options
Woman with dark skin tone and hair-free armpits. Laser hair removal at our UK clinics can treat all skins tones.
If you want to get laser hair removal and bring an end to painful ingrown hairs, then you have a choice between at-home treatments and visiting a clinic. However, the lasers that you can use at home are of a much lower level meaning that you’re unlikely to get permanent results. They are also not suitable for all skin tones.
At a clinic, you can speak to a professional during your pre-treatment consultation and explain exactly what you are looking to achieve. Using a clinic will also increase the laser hair removal effectiveness as they will be able to use medical-grade lasers. Plus, they can make the necessary adjustments for your skin tone and hair colour.
Europe’s leading provider of laser hair removal
Our UK clinics only employ the best professionals so you can get the best results from laser hair removal. At Therapie Clinic, we have provided millions of treatments over the years and are Europe’s number one aesthetic clinic. Not only that, but we also offer a price match guarantee – find a laser hair removal treatment cheaper and we will beat it by 10%.
Find your nearest clinic and pop in to book your appointment. Alternatively, give us a call on 08000 121 565. Say goodbye to ingrown hairs and hello to smooth skin.

Laser Hair Removal in the UK
Laser hair removal in the UK has grown in popularity, in part because of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian sharing that it’s a part of their beauty routine. However, many people don’t realise that there are certain precautions you need to take before receiving the treatment. While we always check during the pre-consultation, it’s handy for you to know well in advance as some of these things require preparing a few weeks ahead.

Ditch the tan
Due to the way the laser technology works, it is best to avoid tanning for 4-6 weeks before your laser hair removal treatment. Having a tan can reduce the effectiveness of the procedure. For this reason, autumn and winter are the perfect time of year to start your treatments.

It’s also worth noting that you should avoid using fake tan too. Put those creams and sprays aside for now – remember, laser hair removal is permanent, so it won’t be long before you can return to the tan!

Stick to the razor
Laser hair removal works by targeting the root of the hair. However, some hair removal processes, such as waxing and plucking, work at the root level. This then reduces the effectiveness of the laser treatment.

To ensure this doesn’t happen, avoid waxing or plucking for 4-6 weeks before your appointment. Instead, just grab a razor and shave. The advice is the same for in between treatments. Laser hair removal is permanent, but it tends to take a course of treatments. Stick to the razor to ensure you maximise the effectiveness of the laser hair removal.

Go hairless

Before having laser hair removal, it's essential to make sure the area to be treated is free from hairs whether this is the underarm area, legs or anywhere else

When you go for a wax treatment, you need to attend with some hair growth. Many people are surprised that the opposite is required for laser hair removal. You will need to have removed the hair before you can receive your treatment. Hair being present in the area to be present can risk thermal injuries from the laser.

Don’t worry, though, we always check during the pre-treatment consultation, and we can quickly sort any issues if needed. As mentioned above, you should avoid waxing and instead shave with a razor. This is best done the day or night before your appointment.

Clean the area
Before having your laser hair removal treatment, it’s a good idea to clean the area to be treated to remove any natural oils. This, again, will help to improve the effectiveness of your treatment.

How effective is laser hair removal?
As you can see, there’s a little preparation involved. That’s why it’s so important that you pick a clinic that offers a pre-treatment consultation so that these things can be checked with you first. At Therapie Clinic, all our clients are given a pre-treatment and an after-treatment consultation. This ensures that your laser hair removal treatment is effective and successful, leaving you with permanent results.

We’ve carried out millions of treatments and are the leading clinic in Europe. Book your laser hair removal treatment with us online or give us a call on 08000 121 565.

Laser Hair Removal Do’s and Don’ts

Whether you’ve recently started your laser hair removal journey, or if it’s something you are about to embark on, it’s always useful to learn a little bit more about how you can get the most from your course of treatment.

Here are our do’s and don’ts to help you get the best experience possible from your laser hair removal journey.

Protect yourself from the sun
For the treatment to work effectively, it’s best not to expose the skin to the sun before and after treatments to avoid sensitivity or sun damage. If you have to be exposed to the sun before your treatments always cover up the area being treated and if that’s not possible, wear SPF 50.

During your laser hair removal treatment the light from the laser is attracted to the dark pigment in the hair follicle, but if the skin on the area being treated is tanned, discoloration or pigmentation may occur as the laser will also be attracted to the dark pigment in the skin. Because the colour of the skin is closer to the colour of the pigment in the hair, the laser’s settings cannot be set as strong, making it less targeted, meaning the treatment will be less effective.

Soothe and refresh your skin
Skin feeling a little hot and bothered after a laser hair removal treatment? That’s perfectly normal. Use a natural soothing product like Aloe Vera to calm and refresh the treated area a few times for a number of days after your treatment. This will allow your skin to nurture and will also help control any inflammation that may take place after a treatment.

Stay away from waxing
Getting restless between treatments? Hang on in there for a little longer, by this stage you should be seeing a real difference in your hair growth. Shaving is fine between treatments but try to stay away from waxing or plucking as these both completely remove the hair from the follicle, and for the laser to work there needs to be a hair present in the follicle. If you have waxed or plucked the treatment area you will need to wait 6-8 weeks for follicles to produce a new hair, so in fact you will be prolonging your treatments!

Avoid tanning products
It is also important that you do not wear fake tan on the area being treated. If you arrive to your appointment wearing fake tan, unfortunately your therapist will not be able to treat you, so ditch that tan at least 10 days before your treatment!

And finally …
Before or after your treatment it is recommended that you avoid hot showers, baths, saunas, or swimming. Try to wear loose, cotton clothing to your appointment and in the hours or days just after a treatment go easy on perfumed products or creams for this short period. Trust us, it will be worth it in the long run!

Laser Hair Removal vs IPL

You may be wondering whether to have laser hair removal or IPL hair removal, especially as both may seem the same at first glance. For example, they both use a light source to remove hair. The light energy is converted into heat energy which causes damage to the hair follicle. This prevents further hair growth. Therefore, they are both long-term solutions to unwanted hair growth, and both reduce the growth speed and thickness of any hairs that remain.

However, there are differences between the two which you need to know before making an informed decision about which one you’ll use.

The difference in technology used
The main difference between laser and IPL hair removal is the technology that they use. With IPL, broad-spectrum visible light is used. The light has a broader field, moving outwards as well as downwards. The light is designed to target melanin pigments. However, because the light spreads wider, this can also target melanin in the skin, such as a mole or freckle, as well as the hairs.

However, how laser hair removal works is by using laser light instead. Again, this targets the melanin in the hair. The advantage of laser light is that it has a much narrower and focused beam with light travelling downwards without spreading out. This allows for the hair removal to be much more focussed, avoiding the pigmentation in the surrounding skin and the light can travel further down into the hair follicle.

You can look great in a bikini with laser hair removal, which can effectively remove unwanted hairs

Treatment time

Treatment times of laser hair removal and IPL do vary. With a broader light area, an individual IPL treatment can be quicker than a singular laser hair removal one. However, because of this, IPL also tends to be less effective and therefore requires a longer series of treatments making it more time-consuming in the long term. Laser hair removal also requires fewer top-up treatments.

Skin types
As the light in IPL hair removal treatments can target the melanin pigment in the skin, it is recommended that those with darker skin tones should avoid IPL as it can cause trauma to the skin. On the other hand, laser hair removal is suitable for all skin types because the light source is much more targeted. However, it’s essential to ensure that you are attending a reputable clinic who will be able to adjust the treatment to suit your skin tone.

Europe’s Number One Clinic
As you can see, there are numerous benefits to having laser hair removal treatment rather than IPL. While laser hair removal at-home treatments are available, for safety reasons, the lasers are significantly reduced in intensity, so you don’t get anywhere near the quality of the result.

If you would like laser hair removal, then we can offer this at all our salons in the UK. Our staff are highly trained and experienced, and we offer the most affordable prices. Find out about our guarantee here.

M Mesotheraphy
Mesotherapy is one of the most popular skin rejuvenation techniques in the aesthetic market. It vastly improves the appearance of lacklustre skin and can also aid in the improvement of skin concerns. Thérapie Clinic is proud to offer such an advanced treatment, particularly because every treatment is bespoke for all clients based on their skin type and concerns.

N New Clinics
Thérapie Clinic first opened its doors almost 20 years ago and we are constantly growing and expanding, we never sit still! This is the largest laser and aesthetic clinic in central London, offering all of our award-winning treatments. We have plans to open many more new clinics across Ireland and the UK this year, so watch this space!

O Obagi Peels
Obagi blue peel radiance is an extremely effective chemical peel that treats all skin types and can be tailored to help combat any skin concerns you may have. The treatment uses a bespoke combination of Salicylic, Lactic and Glycolic acid to help improve the appearance of the skin and encourage a healthy cell turnover. The result is a brighter and smoother looking complexion.

P Pigmentation
Pigmentation or Hyperpigmentation is a dark discolouration on the skin, which usually suggests that too much melanin (pigment) has been produced. It usually occurs in concentrated spots or patches and can be caused by over exposure to the suns UV rays. Although too much time spent in the sun is the leading cause of hyperpigmentation, it can also be exacerbated by hormones or birth control pills, acne or inflammation. Pigmentation is not necessarily permanent, and the effects can be reversed with a good skincare regime and course of treatments at Thérapie Clinic.

Q Qualified

Rosacea is a skin condition that is characterised by inflammation of the skin, which results in redness, pimples, swelling, and small and superficial dilated blood vessels. It mainly effects the nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin. Our skin specialists at Thérapie Clinic will outline a range of treatments that you might consider, including individually prescribed products, facials and scientifically-proven chemical peels as well as IPL (Intense Pulse Light) treatments.

Thérapie Clinic’s award-winning laser hair removal is now available at our beautiful new Wigmore Street clinic in central London. We are delighted to welcome our customers to London’s largest aesthetic clinic. Our state-of-the-art flagship clinic offers the very best in laser hair removal, anti-wrinkle injections, dermal and lip fillers as well as micro-needling, advanced skin treatments and the world leading fat-reducing body treatment, CoolSculpting.

Thérapie Clinic have over 18 years’ experience in delivering laser hair removal to our clients across our wide network of clinics in the UK and Ireland. We have safely delivered over 2 million laser hair removal treatments, a volume that has enabled us to offer our services at accessible and affordable prices.

The treatment works quickly and very simply. Light from the laser is absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair follicle. The laser’s light energy heats the pigment and destroys the hair follicle and inhibiting future hair growth. The laser only affects the specific structures of the hair and follicle, leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.

Thérapie Clinic use only FDA approved, medical-grade lasers, the most advanced technology on the market, which safely deliver superior results and faster treatment times. All treatments are conducted using Cynosure lasers, making side effects minimal, with amazing results guaranteed.

Cynosure is the industry leading brand when it comes to safely and effectively removing unwanted hair and delivering smooth, long lasting results. Thérapie Clinic are proud to employ the most experienced laser therapists in the industry. All of our laser therapists receive the highest level of training, ensuring safety standards are excelled. This is of the many reasons why our clients trust our brand and return again and again.

At Thérapie Clinic, we recommend you undergo a course of treatments in order to obtain the results from laser hair removal. Your therapist will be able to advise you on the number of treatments required for your specific hair and skin type, but we generally would recommend a course of 6-8 treatments. Your skin will look and feel smooth all year round!

It has never been more affordable and convenient to start your laser hair removal journey with Thérapie Clinic’s in central London’s largest clinic. We are currently running special offers on all laser hair removal courses for a limited time only, with prices as low as £15. Ultimate Guide to Laser Hair Removal

The desire for smooth, hair-free skin is nothing new, yet the battle against banishing unwanted hair from our bodies has raged on for years, seemingly without an end in sight. Whether your weapon of choice has been shaving, waxing or plucking, it’s safe to say that all of these have only provided temporary fixes against ridding your body of unwanted hair. If you are looking for a permanent solution, then Thérapie Clinic can be your saviour, with the latest, most advanced technology in laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal is a simple, quick and extremely effective treatment that removes unwanted hair, permanently. You may have contemplated undergoing laser hair removal before, but perhaps were turned off by preconceptions of what is involved.

So, what are the facts about laser hair removal? Find out everything you need to know in our ultimate guide to laser hair removal at Thérapie Clinic.

How does laser hair removal work?

Simply put: heat targets an area to destroy the hair follicles and prevent regrowth.

Laser hair removal targets the hair follicle with concentrated beams of light (lasers). The medical grade laser is attracted to the melanin within the hair follicle. The laser is converted into heat energy which destroys the root within the follicle and prevents future growth. It only affects the specific structure of the hair, leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.

Laser hair removal results depend on a variety of factors such as how dense and coarse the hair is, which will vary from person to person.

Common hair removal treatment areas include legs, armpits, bikini line, upper lip, chin, and chest and back for men. You will need to shave the area the day before or day of your treatment, as there should not be any surface hair on the treatment area. That way, all the energy from the laser can be transmitted under the skin and as close to the root as possible, ensuring more effective results.

It is important that you do not wax or pluck the area prior to treatment, as in doing so you will remove the follicle, and the laser will have nothing to target.

Is laser hair removal safe?

Yes, laser hair removal is safe.

At Thérapie clinic, we pride ourselves on the highest possible standards of safety. We have an exceptional team of highly trained professional staff who will only perform a treatment if they are completely secure in the knowledge that it is safe.

After the procedure your skin will normally be sensitive for 48 hours. It is advisable to keep an eye on the treated area in the days immediately following your session, but in general, laser hair removal should not impact a great deal on your normal routine.

You should wear loose comfortable clothing. For example, if you have had a leg treatment, avoid any clothing, such as skinny jeans or tights which can cause friction with your skin.

What type of laser is used?

All of our laser hair removal treatments are conducted using Cynosure lasers.

We use only medical-grade lasers, the most advanced technology in the industry, which safely deliver superior results and faster treatment times. All treatments are conducted using Cynosure lasers, making side effects minimal, with amazing results guaranteed. Cynosure is the market leader when it comes to safely and effectively removing unwanted hair and delivering smooth, long lasting results that you will love!

At Thérapie Clinic, we are proud to employ the most experienced laser therapists in the industry, all of whom are highly trained ensuring impeccable safety standards are maintained. Our highly experienced team is one of the many reasons why our clients trust our brand and return again and again.

What’s the difference between IPL and medical grade lasers?

They’re just not on the same wavelength.

If you have been researching treatment options for laser hair removal, then you’ve probably come across both IPL (Intense Pulse Light) and laser and you’re probably wondering what the difference is? In a nutshell, laser treatment is far more effective, more precise and much safer than IPL. The main difference between the two hair removal treatments is that IPL uses a broader spectrum of light, emitted at multiple wavelengths, whereas laser (Cynosure) emits a single, more focused wavelength which is far more precise, targeted and optimised for maximum follicle absorption.

Because a laser will target the hair follicle more precisely, you will begin to see results much sooner and with far fewer treatments. Not only is laser hair removal much more effective, it is also far less painful than IPL hair removal. Laser also works on all skin types, whereas IPL is not as safe on darker skin types. The laser strictly targets the hair follicle as opposed to the pigment surrounding it, resulting in less collateral skin damage.

Is laser hair removal suitable for all skin types?

Yes, but hair colour as well as skin type will influence how successful it is.

Laser works best on those with fair skin and thick, dark (brown or black) hair. A contrast between hair and skin colour will provide the best outcome of laser hair removal, i.e. the treatment will work best on those who have dark hair and pale skin.

Why is that the case? Well the basic principle is that the pigment of the hair, but not the pigment of the skin, should absorb the light from the laser. The laser should damage only the hair follicle while avoiding damage to the skin.

Therefore, a contrast between hair and skin colour (dark hair and light skin) results in the best outcomes. If you have darker skin, it could be the case that you will require more sessions. Those with blonde or light-coloured hair may find that the treatment will be less effective and may also require more treatments.

Laser hair removal is perfect for most women of differing skin types, but our laser hair removal is also suitable for men.

At your free consultation at Thérapie Clinic, your laser therapist will perform a patch test and will be able to assess whether you are suitable for laser hair removal.

How many laser hair removal sessions will I need?

For optimal results it is recommended that you undergo a course of 6-10 treatments.

The reason a course of treatments is recommended is because of the way the hair grows and the lasers work. The laser targets hair that is in the ‘growth phase’ or Anagen phase of its cycle. Your hair reaches this stage at different times, hence the reason for a number of sessions; so that each of the hairs is targeted by the laser at some point.

The area being treated, your hair density and skin type will also determine how many times you will need to undergo treatment. Your therapist will be able to advise you on the number of treatments required for your specific hair and skin type, but we generally would recommend a course of 6-10 treatments.

How long does laser hair removal take?

Depending on the area being treated, you can be in and out in as little as 10 minutes.

It really is that quick and easy. Our award-winning Cynosure lasers ensure quicker treatment times with minimal side effects, making it easy to undergo treatment on your lunch break or between meetings and then return to your daily activities straight after!

Your treatments will be spaced 4-6 weeks apart, giving the hair that was not in the anagen phase a chance to grow into it for best removal results.

Sun tan and laser hair removal

For the treatment to work effectively, it is advisable not to expose the skin to the sun before and after treatments to avoid sensitivity or sun damage.

Can you fake tan after laser hair removal?

Refrain from using fake tan for 1-2 weeks after your laser hair removal treatment.

We recommend you wait to fake tan to be on the side of caution and avoid damaging your skin. Equally it is just as important that you do not wear fake tan on the area being treated for at least 10 days before any laser hair removal session.

During your laser hair removal treatment, the light from the laser is attracted to the dark pigment in the hair follicle, but if the skin on the area being treated is tanned, discoloration or pigmentation may occur as the laser will also be attracted to the dark pigment in the tan. Because the colour of the tanned skin is closer to the colour of the pigment in the hair, the laser’s settings cannot be set as strong, making it less targeted, meaning the treatment is less effective.

If you arrive at your appointment wearing fake tan, unfortunately your therapist will not be able to treat you, so ditch that tan at least 10 days before your treatment!

Are there any laser hair removal side effects?

It is perfectly normal for the treated area to become red and slightly sensitive.

Your therapist will apply an aloe vera gel to combat any inflammation, and any redness will subside after 48 hours.

During this time, it is recommended that you avoid:

  • Hot showers
  • Baths
  • Saunas
  • Swimming
  • Direct sunlight
  • Sunbeds
  • Perfumed products or creams

It is also normal to experience blemishes, red marks and itching. These effects will disappear completely after 2-3 days.

Your doctor will go through everything in the consultation stage, but feel free to contact us at any time if you have any further questions about the safety and possible side effects of laser hair removal.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

It really depends on the person.

Honestly, if you can endure the pain of waxing, then laser hair removal will be a walk in the park. Because of advances in technology, many people who have completed at least one hair removal session report experiencing little to no pain.

At Thérapie Clinic, we use Cynosure lasers, which have additional cooling devices to decrease sensitivity during treatment.

While everyone’s pain threshold is different, and different body parts are more sensitive than others, it’s still considerably less painful than waxing.

Can you get laser hair removal while pregnant?

No, it is advised that you do not get laser hair removal while pregnant.

Although laser hair removal is considered a safe procedure, it is usually advised that women avoid the procedure when pregnant or breastfeeding. This is because not enough research has been done to prove that it’s safe for mothers and babies. In the absence of research, we err on the side of caution.

Why not plan ahead? You can purchase any of our special offers now and commence treatment once you have stopped breastfeeding.

How much does laser hair removal cost?

Our laser hair removal treatment prices start from just £7 / €15.95 per session.

We believe that everyone should have access to superior treatment at unbeatable prices. For this reason, we offer competitive price plans; including a pay per session option. We regularly run special offers on all of our laser hair removal courses, so keep an eye out for our next big savings.

Laser hair removal is a simple, painless and incredibly effective procedure. Laser hair removal works by using the light from a medical grade laser, to target and heat the hair follicle, destroying interconnectors which connect the hair to the blood supply. This destroys hair at the root, in order to prevent regrowth. As the hair is targeted directly there is no damage to the surrounding tissue.

Once you arrive at the clinic, a skin analysis and patch test will be performed by a specialist dermatologist. They will determine the type of laser that would be most effective in conducting your treatment.

Thérapie clinic believes that everyone should be able to avail of our superior treatment at affordable prices. For this reason, we offer competitive price plans; including a pay per session option. The average cost of treatment is 19-60 euro per session. For long lasting results, we recommend that you have 6-8 treatments but you will notice a visible difference after just 2-3 sessions.

 What are its effects?

It is also recommended that you refrain from using perfumed products or creams. You should wear loose comfortable clothing.
