Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

Is laser hair removal permanent

Shaving, waxing or plucking are all great options for quick and easy hair removal, but unfortunately do not give that long lasting, smooth, and hair free finish that we are all longing for. Laser hair removal boasts some exciting benefits in this area, that in comparison almost sound too good to be true!

It is only natural that you want to learn everything you can before deciding on your permanent hair removal plan of action. So what is the truth behind this treatment option and most importantly, is laser hair removal really permanent?

Is laser hair removal permanent?

It is difficult to guarantee permanent results with any treatment as every human body is unique and will respond differently to each treatment. However the team at Thérapie Clinic have performed hundreds of thousands of laser hair removal sessions on countless different skin types and have found that roughly 90% of clients will achieve permanent hair loss after 4 – 6 sessions.

At your free laser hair removal consultation, you will discuss the number of treatment sessions you will need to undergo for optimal results. Usually this will be between 6 and 10 sessions.

It is important that you attend the full length of the treatment course. Your hair grows in several different stages and each treatment will target the hair at different stages of regrowth. There is no way to tell at what stage the hair is in by eye, so the course will cover a period of time determined to ensure maximum efficiency is achieved.

After the recommended number of treatment sessions have been completed you can expect the hair removal to last for a minimum of 2 years. Maintenance sessions may be needed in future to ensure the hair removal is permanent.

How does laser hair removal work?

All of our laser hair removal treatments are conducted using Cynosure lasers. This medical grade laser uses concentrated beams of light to target the hair follicles in a specific area such as the legs, bikini line, upper lip, and chest and back for men. By converting the light to heat energy and attacking the melanin within the hair follicle, the root is destroyed which prevents future regrowth in that area whilst leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.

The longevity of your results will depend on a variety of factors which vary from person to person, these include:

  • Skin type
  • Hair density, colour and growth
  • Hormonal influences
  • The area of the body being treated

These factors will also determine how many treatment sessions you will need to undergo.

Refraining from plucking or waxing before your session will enhance the success of the treatment, as doing so can remove the hair follicle, meaning there is nothing for the laster to target.
